I've decided to start an Arsenal save after watching highlights of them seemingly start their usual collapse. I've usually always had a decent save with them aswell.

Sitting top after 5 wins in 5 games. I the CL I've been grouped with Lyon, Dortmund and BATE. Started off away to Lyn and went fairly attacking after battling with what tactics to use, and got pumped 4-0! Used my more conservative tactic in the next match away to Man United and won 2-0. So from now I'll be using a "big game" tactic and a more attacking one for the easier games. Only thing is my "big game" tactic sort of nullifies Ozil, and its possible I'll drop him for them to help the system, he's tremendous aswell :(

Most countries go down to the fourth or fifth tier. In Scotland it's League 2, but there are custom databses which make the Highland/Lowland leagues playable. I tried to make a custom database which would incorporate the junior set-up into one big Scottish pyramid, but I struggled to get promotion and relegation to work correctly. I've heard of a database which extends the English pyramid all the way down to the 11th tier, but I haven't tried it out.

Yeah I've generally found the Highland/Lowland databases a bit unreliable, there was a Finnish one too that I tried and didn't work right. I imagine out of the leagues which are part of the game it would be somewhere in Asia like Hong Kong or India that has the lowest rep.

But I've just downloaded the Gibraltar database and considering their top division is rated at half a star, I think the Gibraltar second division is the answer to my question

I've tried that out, it works well the one I used. However, I'm impatient and hate not being able to sign half decent players. You can play in the Liverpool leagues and stuff

I won the SPL in my third season by about 10 points. :thumsup2

Went into my fourth season, managed to beat Steua Bucharest (sp?) on penalties to get into the champions league group stages. Got about 7 million pounds in the bank just for that. Won my first 5 league games and was about to play Shakhtar away in the Champs League...

And I went to reload my saved game, but for whatever reason it had crashed and wouldn't let me reload. :bairn

My backup save game was from before the season started, too, which was gutting - although tbh thank christ I at least had a backup there.

Cheated a bit (kind of, don't feel guilty about it because fucked if I'm putting up with the game's shite and missing out on all dat money) and kept reloading save games until I got the same results as before - this time beating Dinamo on penalties. edit: actually I cheated a bit more than that, I was frustrated at the fact a few transfer deals in and out had been lost in the crash, so I used the editor to move the players I'd signed to my club, and offered the players I'd sold away. I tried to be as honest as possible - gave the players I signed the exact contracts they'd had pre-crash which were mostly a lot higher than the ones they were on moving them to my club through the editor, and it slightly balanced out because I ended up accepting the first offers I got for the players I'd sold, most of which were for a fair bit less money than before - for instance in the game that crashed I sold Lucas Piazon for 2.6 million, but from the backup I ended up selling him for about 1.2 million because that was the first and only offer I got for him.)

I was gutted when the save crashed too because I had signed Rangers best young player for about a million quid and he scored in every single one of those 5 league wins.

Really enjoying the save but tbh I can see it getting a bit stale soon - saying that it is pretty fun how I'm signing all these 4 1/2 - 5 star potential ability guys, some of whom are already ready for the first team, for pennies while everyone else keeps signing absolute shite on overinflated wages - barring Dundee Utd who are actually fairly canny most of the time.

Started a game with Airdrie on Monday, had hardly any time to play it but straight away I got Rangers away in the Challenge Cup (only lost 1-0) so a welcome boost to the finances. Signed Martin Hardie, Jack Boyle, Kamil Witorski, Andy Kirk, Jamie McCluskey, David Graham and a couple of youngsters on loan from Hibs as part of my agreement.

Beat East Fife 1-0 in the League Cup and started my league campaign with a 2-1 victory over Dunfermline. Decent start to my career as Airdrie manager.

My Partick Thistle save. My fist attempt at FM14, begun on Boxing Day 2013. First 8 seasons spent mostly bobbing about between 2nd/3rd position with the odd domestic trophy thrown in. I was losing faith I'd ever win the league any time soon. Then out of nowhere comes the brilliance of season 2022/23:

Only defeat was a very narrow and unlucky one against The Rangers at Ibrox. I got to the final of the League Cup before Celtic beat me with a goal in the 120th minute. The same opposition beat me in the Scottish Cup semis. I was also unlucky to be narrowly beaten at the Europa League last 16 stage by a strong Inter Milan side. So a great season with areas to improve on next season.

P.S. Rory McKenzie is an absolute must sign for any Scottish Premiership team. I signed him in my 4th season and whilst his wage demands were very difficult to accommodate for (~£10,000 p/w), he's been an absolute hero for me since in the right wing position. Same applies to a lesser extent for Ragnar Mar Larusson. Unfortunately I've already agreed a deal to sell him to Olympiakos for £4.5m.

Goodbye Ragnar 348ohtf.jpg

P.P.S. I love the sound it makes when you press F12 to take a screenshot.

Looking at my teams finances and under wages there is Non-Football Costs, what exactly are these? I'm assuming it's supposed to be the wages for board members/directors and anyone else not in the playing or coaching staff but mine are through the roof, it's gone up by 12 million in the last season and is pretty much on par with my player budget. Surely the tea lady and kitman aren't getting paid that much?! Is there anything I can do to cut these costs?

There is also a lot of money coming out from dividends and the club is making quite a big loss, despite me performing well on the pitch and bringing in a lot of money. I'm expecting my budget to be cut for next season and it's really annoying.
