This belief many seem to have that he hasn't played much recently just isn't true. Gordopolis
Lol, gotta love the amusing speculation that appears in the Daily Record's transfer news blog No way he's going to any of those clubs. I could see a Watford or similar taking him tho.
theupsetter
If he cant get in the sporting 1st team why would he get in the 'English giants' 1st team. Personally, I'm dubious.

jamamafegan
It would be cool as f**k if Gauld got a game for Scotland and turned out to be exceptionally good - taking everyone by surprise and leaving Scotland fans like “f**k me man, he’s not bad.” That would be guid.Hope he kicks on after this crisis at Sporting.
velo army
I'm praying for exactly this. I reckon he would surprise is, tbh.

Gordopolis
I reckon what's happened is the big English clubs have asked Sporting to keep them informed re potential departures and the press have concocted a specific interest in Gauld. Chortle - predictive text converted 'Gauld' into 'Failed'
Nightmare
Sporting's chairman being an utter walloper has mostly worked against Ryan Gauld so far, but it could be coming full circle here and actually end up being a really good thing for him. With a new manager and a complete squad overhaul likely coming, Gauld is in a far better position to benefit from it than he was when a similar (though definitely less dramatic) scenario occurred soon after he first joined. Back then Marco Silva was punted and they brought in Jorge Jesus, who instantly signed a bunch of veteran "names", pushing the tiny Scottish kid miles down his squad list. 4 full years in the country later, you've got to figure this might work out. Fluent in the language and plenty of experience of Portuguese football now, plus he definitely seems to have bulked up quite a lot; this could be a real chance to make it at Sporting. Cue him signing for Preston North End in a couple of weeks time. Edited June 17, 2018 by Nightmare
