(myth busted sadly) https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/name-it/549392/103rd-anniversary-titanic-disaster-pj-sets-record-straight-headline/ Fun fact: Robert Hichens (aka 'The Man Who Sank The Titanic*') is buried in the cemetery beside Pittodrie. Survived the disaster but later died whilst working on a cargo ship anchored just off of Aberdeen in 1940. *Steered the ship incorrectly, albeit under the orders of the first officer. Also acted like a see you next Tuesday in the lifeboat he was commanding. Supposedly. Anyway, the new Harris Academy in Dundee could be over-subscribed. By a whopping ELEVEN pupils. A disgrace, IMO. http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/news/local/dundee/dundee-s-new-harris-academy-building-could-be-over-capacity-1.741769
Shotgun
Fun fact: Robert Hichens (aka 'The Man Who Sank The Titanic*') is buried in the cemetery beside Pittodrie. Sort of watching Antiques Roadshow (American version) yesterday and some wifie had brought along some Titanic memorabilia. During the chit-chat, I heard her say "And of course the disaster was especially tragic for the women who lost husbands and sons." You can imagine all the men drowning in the freezing water thinking "Well this sucks but at least I'm not as badly off as those poor women sailing off to safety on the lifeboats. Some of them are losing husbands. I've got it good in comparison." Edited April 20, 2015 by Shotgun
