Bully Wee Villa
9 for Monday. Annoyingly changed my mind on the Beatle but there were a couple of guesses in there so can't complain.

Eednud
All the answers were in well before the deadline but I was oot. @Leeds Saint 1pt v @JamesP_81 2pts so they swap leagues @BigBo10 1pt v @SlipperyP 4 pts so @SlipperyP is a Wanna Be again.. Some recent European games have been played at neutral venues. In the days before introducing away goals or penalty kick deciders it was fairly common for games to go to a play-off. This week’s play-off is in 3 parts. a) In the 1962/63 European Cup Winners Cup First Round Welsh Club Bangor City beat Napoli 2-0 in Bangor, lost 3-1 in Naples (if 9nly away goals had been on the go) and eventually lost 1-2 in the play-off. For 1 point each which city and at which ground was this game played? As an aside Napoli ended up in play-offs in the following 2 rounds. Play-off was in London at Highbury b) Also in 1962/63 Valencia beat Dunfermline 4-0 at home then at East End Park the Pars won 6-2. Valencia won the play-off 1-0 but in which city (1 pt) and which club’s ground (1 pt) Play=off was in Lisbon at Belenenses ground. c) In 1961/62 European Cup First Round Rangers were drawn against East German side ASK Vorwärts Berlin. Rangers won the 1st Leg 2-1 in East Berlin. They won the 2nd leg 4-1 at the second attempt after leading 1-0 with the game abandoned at half time because of fog. Which city was the 2nd leg played in (1pt) and what time did the replayed game kick-off (1 pt) and just in case there’s a tie why did they have to play the 2nd leg where they did? Game was played in Malmö, Sweden with a 10am kick-off. The UK government wouldn’t issue visas for the DDR squad as construction of the Berlin wall had. Linfield played ASK in the Preliminary Round and 2nd leg in Belfast was cancelled as ASK couldn’t get visas but they had already won 3-0 in East Berlin.

Replays were abolished with the introduction of the away goals rule but even then the rules weren't fully understood. There has been at least one case of a wrong application of the away goals rule by a referee in an international club tournament. It happened in a second-round tie in the 1971–72 European Cup Winners' Cup between Rangers and Sporting Clube de Portugal. This fixture had the following scorelines: First leg: Rangers 3–2 Sporting Second leg, after 90 minutes: Sporting 3–2 Rangers Second leg, after extra time: Sporting 4–3 Rangers Since the teams were now level 6–6 on aggregate, the Dutch referee Laurens van Raavens ordered a penalty shootout, which Sporting won 3–0. Rangers appealed the loss, however, on the grounds that Van Raavens should not have ordered the shootout, since the Rangers goal in extra time in Lisbon gave them a lead of three away goals to two. Rangers won the appeal and went on to win the Cup Winners' Cup that season.
