Good that he's on the mend, a full on fight is crazy stuff, cat's are basically solitary. A  bite is quite bad as well, due to the amount of bacteria in their mouths.

Abscesses are very common from bites, and seem most common on the neck…but I guess that’s where a lot of the chomping is aimed.

  • 2 weeks later...

Over at my maw's place yesterday, where our cats are living temporarily. She was watching a nature documentary with a segment on bird mating rituals, so lots of flapping and cheeping going on. Suddenly my chunky lump wakes up from a nap, sees the action on the TV, then races across the room and launches herself at the screen

Spent a couple of dazed minutes throwing confused looks back and forth between us and the telly, and did not appreciate the laughter.

Ours has taken to bringing mice in and letting them run away and hide. Inevitably she loses interest and wanders off when she accepts she wont get to them.

We recently bought a couple of humane 'catch & release' traps which work brilliantly. Quite often if there's a mouse hiding behind a unit or under the fridge etc, we set a trap with some cat biscuits next to it and within minutes it wanders out and traps itself. Got 2 yesterday, and usually one every other day on average.

Pretty much the MO here. Unless the cat gets it, they usually head for the trap and get taken to Dudhope park where they are no doubt eaten by a fox or somesuch.

My old girl has reached the age where she's struggling to clean herself, so she spent an afternoon at the cat spa for the first time this week - nice and tidy and clean, and had a long sleep when she got back. I figured she'd skulk around afterwards and wouldn't forgive me for weeks, but she's been confidently strutting about the place like she knows she's gorgeous again and posing so we can see her from all angles

My sister has taken to crocheting.

Here is her attempt at Freyja, got the moustache and, even though we can't see it here, the stumpy tail.

That's brilliant.

This below, not so much.

#RIP Timmy, my sisters cat. He had a good life, was about 17 or thereabouts but had cancer and a big tumour in his gub at the end.

Did a couple of photos here for my sister so she can remember him. Will get these framed for her.
