FlyerTon
If the plane had wandered unannounced into some other countries airspace there's a fair chance it's been shot down and is being covered up as the plane was full of Chinese nationals it's hardly likely to go down well. If that's the case we might never hear about it. Hedgecutter
Shirley not the Russians? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_007 That's quite scary how out of the 269 on board, no bodies were ever found, only a mere 13 body parts washed up on the shores of Japan and another 10 bits once they eventually discovered the wreckage on the sea bed. Unrecognisable with only shoes to use as identification.

Reports on the TV this morning that some residents of the Maldives believe they seen a low flying plane similar to the Malaysia 777 around the time it was announced it was missing. Could it be under cover in one of these airfields? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_the_Maldives

Big Gus
Shirley not the Russians? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_007 Basically if it flew on the northerly path you'd have to look at Vietnam first, then China itself. If it did get as far as Afghanistan it's definitely toast over there.

Waspy
Surprised those Grangemouth International Rescue eejits haven't been spotted getting all their gear ready yet. I can't help but think of thunderbirds every time these guys are on tv.

Big Gus
You'd think with advances in technology these mysteries would no longer be possible but look at the db Cooper case - granted 40 years ago but just as strange and still unsolved. While there is a fair chance it has just plunged into the ocean there's too many 'ifs and buts'. The satellite images of an unknown plane flying low over the Vietnamese jungle are interesting today but no proper source for them yet except the tinfoil hat sites.
Ned Nederlander
look at the db Cooper case - granted 40 years ago but just as strange and still unsolved. Well yes - but no. Failing to find one bloke who parachuted into the wilderness hardly compares to a 777 disappearing from the sky.

welshbairn
UPDATE: One of the passengers was a trained aviation engineer, and this.. As a boy, his son had enjoyed sport, especially football, and he supported both Liverpool and Manchester United.
