The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23

Firstly, I don’t subscribe to the paranoia of Rangers fans who think that Celtic run the SFA. But I would like to see a spokesperson from the SFA explain the following scenarios.

1. Scott Brown, captain of extremely successful provincial club, Celtic, with a massive fanbase, walks past the Rangers support after a victory, and then turns back, looks directly at said support and gives them the GIRUY sign to wind them up - no punishment.

2. Derek McInnes, manager of less successful provincial club, Aberdeen, with a drastically smaller fanbase, is taunted by the Celtic support by way of a sectarian song directed at him, and gives them the GIRUY sign under provocation - two game ban, one game suspended for just over a season.

Seriously, why?

There are differences to be fair. The acts, of course, are the same.

However, Mcinnes was seen by the fourth official, sent off and post match (to his credit) admitted guilt and that he'd take his punishment.

Scott Brown was filmed on a camera phone appearing to gesture towards Rangers fans (we know he did but an adept lawyer would make a case against it). Celtic and Neil Lennon threw a hissy fit and proclaimed a media circus was trying to get Brown banned based on little evidence.

All things being equal you'd see a similar punishment given out but the circumstances are different.

You’re right that there are differences in the two acts. I was trying to make the point that Scott Brown’s was the more serious of the actions. He was on the wind up and trying to provoke the Rangers fans for a laugh, whereas Derek McInnes was reacting to provocation. I’m wondering how all these marvellous Celtic travelling fans will react to Derek tomorrow. I think we all know what is going to happen.

Just hope that we can get a bit of luck for a change, and have a couple of Celtic players sent off by early second half.

Not surprising to see being linked with re-signing Josh Magennis isn’t exactly inspiring Aberdeen fans on social media.

Doesn’t have much substance so I think folk need to put down their pitchforks

It’s a very Aberdeen signing rumour though

Yeah no idea if that Nixon guy for the sun is reliable or not. Probably as much as anyone else who writes for them.

Despite being the one who let him go i’m sure that’s exactly the kind of striker Mcinnes would be after, especially on a free with the things going on at Bolton. Almost as physical as Cosgrove but with much more pace. I think he did ok at Charlton but doesn’t look like he’s done much at an admittedly poor side this season.

Yeah I think so. Reluctantnicko or something like that on Twitter.

Aye that's him, he breaks a lot of transfers from that area of the world, I'd believe him.
