BukyOHare
Kenny Crawford trying to describe the trophy presentation / celebrations at Falkirk, you know a team that's gone the whole league season unbeaten and with a manager who the show presenter has personally touted for manager of the year. "Kenny, we're going to have to interrupt you to hear live from Brendan Rodgers". Of course you have to, the choice of giving a team in the lower leagues 5 minutes of national airtime to recognise a fantastic achievement or going to hear the same old tripe that post match interviews are generally full of. Nothing ever changes. I never knew Kenny Mac's kids supported St Mirren either, I don't think he's ever mentioned it before................
Dons_1988
Will they be publishing the Neil Doncaster interview in any way other than sound bites? Not included in their podcast from the weekend.
Dons_1988
On another note, it sounded like yesterday they had no means of watching replays whilst covering rangers v killie live. Is there a reason for that? Stuart McCall was looking over the shoulder of the 5 live guys for replays during VAR calls and it sounded so tinpot.

If the 5 live commentators had replays, that's a case of BBC Scotland not requesting TV screens as part of their accreditation. Obviously not relevant for last week, but it may be that smaller grounds don't have TV screens in their press boxes. But Ibrox and Celtic Park do, because it's a requirement for the Champions League. In this new VAR era, radio commentators really need access to live pictures so they can, at the very least, know what is being looked at, and then eventually what the referee is seeing when called to the monitor. Even if it hadn't been live on TV, there's a live feed available from every Premiership game.
Scooby_Doo
'What a save from Hemming in the Kilmarnock goal', exclaims Rory Loy 'Yes, a great save from the goalkeeper', says Kenny. About a 90 second interaction about a big chance and a great save, but I don't know who for. Craigan has described two goals in his game but you have to wait thirty seconds to find out who scored it. Murder.
18BAIRN76
The discussion around plastic pitches is dinosaur stuff. I agree there should be a higher standard enforced, but just banning them outright is silly and a classic Scottish football reaction. Of course everyone would prefer the game to be played on grass, but there has to be some realism. We’re a country in Northern Europe ffs. I’d rather watch a game on Falkirk’s pitch (the kind of standard that should be enforced imo, vs. pitches like Livi/Killie) than a bobbly cow field. It’s just tiresome the hyperbole which is used when talking about it. Edited May 11 by 18BAIRN76
Silverton End
Spartans scored a 5th goal away at Peterhead, but the oaf hasn't even mentioned it. The listener would hardly know that Stirling Albion were playing Dumbarton in front of a very healthy crowd too. And yet the "English" Five Live managed to keep me updated with the play off scores in Scotland (including East Kilbride v Stranraer) and the Welsh conference play off (for the final European spot). They also had Connie McLaughlin at Livingston and were talking about the implications of St Johnstone potentially overtaking Ross County after having live commentary from Celtic Park at lunchtime.

Even on the BBC sport Scoddish section, its not the easiest to find the playoff scores, and certainly zero live reporting or any detail whatsoever. Sportsound couldn't even get a proper line to Douglas Park, Hamilton, they had Callum Davidson on his phone sounding like he was in a fish tank. No reports from Stirling v Dumbarton or East Kilbride v Stranraer, play-off games. Appalling, amateur stuff.
