It was obviously about the squad. Are we really getting that pedantic?

Do those posters that get so annoyed by this agree or disagree that hibs current squad could compete well in the top league?

I'd say at best, a lot of their players are unproven in the top tier. It's not a stretch to suggest that they might well end up disappointing.

So calling a moron a moron means you are offended?

Ok. Maybe the wrong choice of word.

Getting annoyed at their perfectly understandable opinion.

Would be a better way to put it.

It annoyed people the year before with Sevco and it annoyed people the year before that with Hearts and I'm not sure why.

It's like fans of the lower placed Premiership clubs feel like people are saying that they do not deserve to be there whilst Hibs etc do. Nobody is saying that or thinking that.

Rangers and Hearts were there because of off the field issues. The comparison with Hibs is a red herring.

And quite a lot of pundits think Caley, County and Hamilton shouldn't be there and Hibs, United and someone like Falkirk should be.

Yes, people do think and say exactly that.

If the current Hibs squad would be comfortable in the top 6 of the Premiership then the top flight is a lot worse than I remember it being. And thus is taking into account the crazy monet they're throwing about in their third attempt to get out the division and the laughable "emergency" loan of a Scotland international.

Folk said this last season, and they ended up finishing 3rd in the Championship and then failing to get past Falkirk in the play-offs.  A Falkirk side which would, of course, go on to get scudded by 11th placed Killie in the play-off final.

To be fair - they had Alan Stubbs as manager. I reckon even Lennon is failing to get the best out of them.

On paper they have one of the best midfields in Scotland.

The amount of money they're throwing about I'd be shocked if they don't hit the top 6 in their first season back up.

Gordon Strachan has said on numerous occasions that Hibs and Dundee UTD shoud be 'fast tracked' into the Premiership.

Who are they replacing and why?

Gordan Strachan is a fucking idiot though, he's usually just laughed at when he speaks. This one about Hibs has seemed to stick.

And by the way, United for example, on paper are a Premiership club and no doubt they'll have a bigger budget than a lot of clubs in the league above.

But I wouldn't dare call them a Premiership quality team like myself and others are doing with Hibs, they'd be a very poor Premiership team if they were there just now. Regardless of stature, budget, fan base or size of club.

Yes the same Hibs that will do exactly what Hearts and Rangers have done when they're promoted and finish in the top 6.

Considering they failed to finish in the top 6 from 2011-2014, have overall only managed 7 out of 14 possible top 6 finishes since the SPL was expanded to 12 teams, and have spent the last 3 seasons in the second tier...

Again.

What does the past have to do with anything here? Talking about the current manager, squad and players.

"Right, we are going to abandon the concept of leagues and promotion/relegation and just shuffle teams around until I'm happy with which division they're in. After we do that Killie will sell out Rugby Park for every game. 95% of people agree with me."

The wee fud is Scotland's answer to Trump.

Everyone knows that.

But it doesn't take a genius to see that the team that they have there now is well below their level.

That's what people are saying, they're not saying that a team should be thrown out of the league to allow Hibs into it ffs. It has to be earned on the park and everybody realises that.

No, this is exactly the problem with comments like those discussed. Everybody on P&B who is a normal fan realises it should be earned on the pitch, but there are undoubtedly people working in the game and sports journalism who don't. Do you really think it's just Gordon Strachan who thinks Hibs and Dundee United should be 'fast-tracked'?

Not that a scenario like this has any chance of happening because there are many entirely sensible people involved in the game alongside the idiots, but if you had the SFA/SPFL colluding on some corrupt South American style restructuring of the leagues which was blatantly designed to protect big clubs from relegation and ensure Hibs & Dundee Utd returned to the top flight at the expense of Hamilton & Ross County, you can guarantee you'd get Keith Jackson types supporting it along with Strachan.

Obviously that's a wildly extreme scenario which would never even be attempted, as there would be far more sane people laughing at it than morons advocating it, but the fact that someone in a position of influence - the manager of the fucking national team - advocates such a measure means the narrative that Hibs are 'naturally' a top flight club and belong there should be challenged. Referring to them as 'a Premiership club' feeds into Strachan's narrative, going beyond simply discussing whether their squad is comfortably better than much of the top flight or pointing out how big a club they are.

Didn't they just draw 1-1 at home to your struggling Ayr Utd team?
