Do you really think it's just Gordon Strachan who thinks Hibs and Dundee United should be 'fast-tracked'? Not that a scenario like this has any chance of happening because there are many entirely sensible people involved in the game alongside the idiots, but if you had the SFA/SPFL colluding on some corrupt South American style restructuring of the leagues which was blatantly designed to protect big clubs from relegation and ensure Hibs & Dundee Utd returned to the top flight at the expense of Hamilton & Ross County, you can guarantee you'd get Keith Jackson types supporting it along with Strachan. Obviously that's a wildly extreme scenario which would never even be attempted, as there would be far more sane people laughing at it than morons advocating it, but the fact that someone in a position of influence - the manager of the fucking national team - advocates such a measure means the narrative that Hibs are 'naturally' a top flight club and belong there should be challenged. Referring to them as 'a Premiership club' feeds into Strachan's narrative, going beyond simply discussing whether their squad is comfortably better than much of the top flight or pointing out how big a club they are. There's one small part of your plan that I quite like.
pandarilla
Didn't they just draw 1-1 at home to your struggling Ayr Utd team? When did that happen?I love Ayr but we're not able to go to Easter road and get a result, not this season.
shootingboots
If Dundee United were in the top flight with their current team they'd be relegated again.

DA Baracus
Before the League Cup final Willie Miller was talking about how, and "no offence to teams like Inverness and Ross County", it was a "proper cup final".

RandomGuy.
United are "on paper a premiership club"? Wut If lichtie was English he'd likely be complaining about Bournemouth being in the EPL while Leeds are stuck in the Championship.
afca32
I've got a Hibs supporting mate who's always mentioning how chronic they've been under Lennon. He was dreading Sunday even before Hearts improved performances over the last couple of games.
1320Lichtie
United are "on paper a premiership club"? Wut Well, they are the 6th biggest club in the country, and on paper are a Premiership club, everything from the stadium to the fanbase is Premiership level, they're team isn't though, it's not difficult.
1320Lichtie
If lichtie was English he'd likely be complaining about Bournemouth being in the EPL while Leeds are stuck in the Championship. Totally different in England. Clubs barely rely on the size of fanbase for their resources anymore. And every club in the top 2/3 leagues have top class facilities.

Good post but I completely disagree that that is the general feeling around the situation, vast vast majority of Scottish football will feel the way I've said. One or two guys like Strachan, Jackson or the guys that only care about the league as a business may feel the way you say but imo they're a tiny minority.Hibs and United do not deserve to be in the league. Hibs have a Premiership level team playing in the league below though, this has nothing to do with the size of club they are, purely because of the manager and squad they have. I don't think there's anything controversial about saying that either. Definitely better than a good few Premiership teams for me just like Hearts and Sevco were in previous years.
deej
Well, they are the 6th biggest club in the country, and on paper are a Premiership club, everything from the stadium to the fanbase is Premiership level, they're team isn't though, it's not difficult. But last season they were the 12th best team in the Premiership, meaning they are now a Championship club. You could have the biggest stadium in the country and more money than anyone else, if your team is gash then the whole club gets relegated.

I was saying that on paper they're a Premiership club, but would I fuck call them a Premiership level team because they'd be extremely poor in the Premiership this season. The Hibs are a premier league level team that was being spouted on sportsound last night has fuck all to do with the size of club etc, it's purely to do with the quality of their squad/manager. You don't get into the top league for being a big club. You could have 20000 fans for all it mattered but if you've got Coll Donaldson playing centre half and Tope Obadeyi playing left wing it means fuck all.

The results of your matches is, quite literally, the only thing that matters in football, and what clubs get measured on. Hibs and United are and always will be bigger clubs than Caley and County, bigger stadiums, more money, more fans, but if the team doesn't accumulate enough points, they're down.
Stellaboz
The size of club argument is pointless and meaningless. You're still a buffoon.
DA Baracus
There's only 1 possible criteria in which Hibs could be considered the 6th biggest club, and it's the size of their crowds. But as well know, that's utterly irrelevant.
RiG
Looking at the Hibs squad it looks decent enough but there are plenty of the same duffers that were in the team when they went down.

RandomGuy.
Hibs squad isn't even that good, most are Championship level at best, except McGinn and possibly Cummings. We played them last season in the midst of a three month winless run and it took a penalty for them to win.
