The Arbroath Thread

Arbroath have signed 20-year-old midfielder Scott Martin on an emergency loan from Hibernian until the middle of January.

Scott knows manager Dick Campbell after moving to Station Park on loan in August 2015 where he made 24 appearances and scored 2 goals.

Having made his first team debut for Hibernian in December 2014, he scored his debut goal for Hibernian on the 1st of August 2015 against Montrose in the league cup.

During our Betfred Cup match game against Hibernian at Easter Road Scott came on for John McGinn. (pictured)

Sounds like a terrific prospect but a central midfielder? [emoji848]

Good wee player I think. Provides competition for Yule and Whatley who are the only 2 guys we’ve really got for they 2 positions, think he might come into the team over Yule who’s been a bit quiet lately. Also helps at the back knowing Yules good at centre half if needed.

A powerful big striker will be needed if Stevie D is out for a while longer than we thought.... obviously won’t be as good as him but someone in the same mould who’s done a job in this league and on the east coast might be good...

Stats clearly point towards Danny Denholm being finished as a football player in the SPFL and a forward line of ToB and Kane Hester being the best option in the next few months.

In all seriousness I think it's quite interesting to see who at this stage has contributed a lot to the team so far, and those who need to contribute more over the coming months to justify a starting place. We're still less than a third into the season, so will be interesting to see how things changes as the season goes on....
