Are folk really claiming that wasn't a red? It was a ridiculously stupid challenge, and as clear a sending off as you'll see.

Killie fans come out now after fellating The Rangers earlier?

As to point - it's the inconsistency that maddens me.

And herein lies the problem with the modern game. Nobody, not even the referees have a clue what is a red card or not - games shift depending on what mood the ref is in that day.

On one hand you can say it's a red because it was dangerous, on the other you can say that he didn't even touch Brown.

I've seen them given as red, seen them as yellow, and seen them as 'play on, got the ball'. The game is fecked!

From the FIFA Laws of the Game:
"A tackle that endangers the safety of an opponent must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force and endangering the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play."
I don't think there is any debate about it. The challenge from Gomis easily falls within the above and correctly resulted in a red card. And I say this as someone who thinks Collum is a very poor referee.
