Dundee United 2015/16 Season

Recommended Posts

I'm still a bit bemused why the board, fans, club in general think a provincial club who have crowds of around 5,000 have a god given right to be in the top league. Much bigger clubs than the orange side of Dundee have went down in recent times. They've sold their best players continually year on year (quite rightly probably) so this downturn in form is not really surprising.

He is a fully paid up member of The Derry Sevco Fanclub. Here he is drooling over his heroes in last night's match with Kilmarnock...

Ooft. Odds on a Chelsea fan too. Not this season, of course.

Dundee United aren't a provincial cub.

Which much bigger club than United has gone down in recent times?

It's getting worse and worse. It's came out that United players don't have a clause in there contracts if they go down, so they will have to ask the likes of Donaldson, Paton, Anier and that to take a pay cut for next season, and if they say no they are free to leave. Basically the same as Hibs two seasons ago.

Surely they could just say no and hang on to their deals paying more than they are likely to get anywhere else? That's worse for Utd than them leaving for nowt tbh.

3rd highest budget in the league doesn't happen by paying peanuts - the tale of Si Murray being a good one -Dundee offered him a reasonable salary based on his playing experience and level, Utd threw a substantial amount more at him - enough to make him choose Utd over his boyhood club.

Sure Murray isn't on that much, just enough to give up a plumber job/part time wage.

The size of the squad surely the main factor, plus like you say paying a bit over the odds for players, there's a big squad there full of average shite. If it really is the 3rd highest I'm not sure why he's trying to use that as justification because there's no way that squad should be the 3rd highest paid, that's happened under him!

Seen United were only a point behind when Mixu took over... Surely his jobs got to come into consideration by the end of the season.
