Mixed feelings about A Glasgow tie.. Would have been awesome in the Hydro but for the roof problem.

I'd rather it had been in the bigger venue in Manchester.. Tickets will be gold dust for the Emirates.

LTA membership comes in handy though.

Yeah not sure the tickets will make it to public sale, would be confident of getting tickets as an LTA member though. Just come across this story on Andy Murray that was on the Guardian but pulled from there after getting just about everything wrong imaginable.

Truly bizarre.

Anyway, Peers hasn't been getting in the Aussie team presumably in part because they like the increased options that 4 singles players gives you, but he is their highest ranked doubles player and obviously knows Jamie's game well so they might opt to bring him into the fold in some way.

Peers doesn't get into the Aussie team. They will play Hewitt and Groth in the doubles.

But until the end of last year they always played a doubles specialist with Hewitt. Chris Guccione played and was pretty successful. Peers is far better than him.

Don't think Murray will be remotely concerned by this result.

Maybe not, but its very rare that he loses to a player of gabis rank. It was also a kind draw he had for a 500 event so good chance to pick up points lost- he will be targeting 2nd seed for us open.

2 masters tournaments coming up,plenty more chances but not great start

Depends where it fits in his training blocks. He's had a few results like this during the hard court seasons as he's been deliberately over trained.

I managed to stay awake long enough to watch it. Murray had some very sloppy games which he gifted Gabashvilli and Gabashvilli had some games where he red lined. Some of his hitting was fierce. Serving for the match at 5-4 and not closing it out against a returner like Gabashvilli is very disappointing.

However if he went deep here, he might not have went deep in the two Masters coming up. The three tournaments this year where he has been paid appearance money he has been beaten in (Dubai, Rotterdam and Washington). With Federer pulling out of the Canadian Masters I don't think Washington matters at all. He would have had to made the final to gain any points. By making the final he would have added 90 points.

Confused here loki. Why would he have only added 90 points? Unless of course he was defending points... ie.

If he is not defending points from Washington or another tournament(same time last yr) then he would make about 300points if makes final. If he is defending points then he will lose most of these as he has exited in first round?

You can only count a certain amount of tournaments in your rankings. WTF (if you qualify), 4 Slams, 8 Masters are your mandatories. You then get your ranking from the combination of six other tournaments (if your a top 30 player). Murray currently has two 500 wins and 210 points from the Davis Cup and three 250 event wins. By making the Final he would see the Davis Cup points replaced. He would only gain 90 points by making the final, and extra 290 by winning.

It means he can be fresher for the two Masters events. Rather than take a deep run here, do well in Canada and flunk in Cincy.

He is required to play one more 500 event after the US Open. He'll probably elect to play Beijing as that is where the money is. I would play Tokyo and defend in Valencia. That would have him play four events (after the US Open) before the WTF, and keep him fresh for that and any possible Davis Cup final.

Although he is allowed to skip one mandatory Masters event this year.

Draw for the Canadian Masters is out. Murray finds himself as number two seed. He has been drawn to face (if seedings hold):

R2 Robredo/Lopez

R16 Monfils

QF Cilic

SF Nadal/Nishikori

F Djokovic

Possible QFs: Murray Vs Cilic, Nadal Vs Nishikori, Wawrinka Vs Raonic, Djokovic Vs Berdych.

Good info. Cheers

Draw doesnt look the worst for Canada. Btw do they alternate between Toronto and Montreal?

Yeah every second year. This year Montreal hosts the Mens tournament and Toronto the Women's tournament. Next year the venues switched.
