I'm not disputing many have come back with serious problems and severe mental health issues, point I am making is, aside from that there is a large section of people who, once they have spent a period of time in the forces and having the state fed, politically motivated mantra about Britain being great and all muslims and immigrants being bad, upon taking all that fucking bullshit in they turn into dull brained, xenophobic, racist fuckwits, much like the moron in the story who, somewhat pathetically tried to attribute his racist areseholery down to PTSD.

Maybe watching a video of Henrik Larsson's greatest goals would've cured him.....

You do get that there are muslims in the british army yeh?
Some people react to combat stress in very different ways and for some they drink like f**k to block out images of their mates being literally blown up right beside them, questioning why it wasn’t them shot. Being in the forces doesnt excuse racism, criminal behaviour etc but if medically diagnosed the response should be to help that person get better.

How do you know this? What are you basing it on?

Several I know, as well as the umpteen social media posts from current and ex military members sharing the wisdom of such luminaries as Katie Hopkins and Yaxley Lennon.

Not doubting your points have some merit but, many in the military, current and previously have a virulent racist streak about their persona, and, specifically regarding the link from earlier about the guy and his Polish neighbours, I'm calling bullshit on that, his behaviour wasn't down to PTSD, it was down to him being a racist piece of shit.

I would the proportion of racist melts with a forces background doesn't hugely differ from that of the general population. I know a good few ex army lads, (thankfully not the type who post about it on Facebook demanding gratitude) and whilst one or two occasionally share absolute gammony nonsense, most don't fall into the racist arsehole category.

I've also helped a few with PTSD through benefit appeals and if anything they are seriously opposed to the usual patriotic BS and are pretty bitter about the whole thing, with little or no interest in the military and very reluctant to discuss it.

I'd bet a substantial amount of money that for the last 4 years since this thread's inception that Magee has been in at least the top 3 contributors of each year. And by 'top' I mean frequent.

A man who picked his original username as a tribute to a terrorist attack was always going to be interested in a thread like this.
