The lazy c**t lived half a mile from the pub. Told him to GTF, but 2 other friends agreed, and he got off. Avoided him ever since, he's a p***k anyway. Very surprised he got off after spinning such a pathetic story. Had the judge just qualified and was this the first day in his new job?

He had a pretty high up responsible job that he needed to be able to drive for, so I suppose it was looking after your own.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have got away with it in Inverness.

Years ago, many years ago even, I was working up in the Shetland Isles as a TV repair man. One night I ventured into Lerwick from our neighbouring village to pick up some provisions, etc, for me and the missus. As I drove past my favourite pub I decided a quick pint wouldn't go amiss and in I went. Needless to say I met a few folk I hadn't seen for a while and caught up in a bit of a session. (There's not much you can do when you get caught in a session) Round about midnight I decided to head for home and as luck would have it one of my rear lights had gone out. I was swiftly pulled over by the local gestapo...As they poked and prodded around the van looking for anything else incriminating, one of them asked if I was the guy that repaired/maintained the TV in the police social club. I nodded sheepishly that I was, and was then asked for my address, and on providing that, was told to follow the police car which then more or less escorted me back home. Rear lights, breath tests, etc were quickly forgotten!
Silvio Tattiescone
Some years ago I worked for a farmer on Arran. One night there was a knock at the door which his wife answered to find a cop asking if Johnny could bring his tractor to pull out a police car that had driven into a ditch. She told the cop to go back to the car and wait until Johnny got there. A wee while later Johnny rolled up in his tractor, still half-asleep and wearing a coat over his pyjamas. He peered blearily at the relieved cop stood beside his car which was virtually upended in the ditch. "Here", said Johnny, "Are you not the man who pulled me over for drunk driving last year and nearly cost me my licence?" The cop sheepishly admitted that he had. "Well you can get your own fucking car out of that fucking ditch you c**t" said Johnny with a cheerful grin before he turned around and drove home.
BigBo10
There is a story my dad told me about a farmer in Englandshire who had been done for drunk driving. He took his tractor to the pub and the local police were for arresting him again. When they arrived he had parked the tractor in a field at the rear of the pub and drove home pished across his fields and as he wasn't on the public road they could do nothing about it. If it's true it's both funny and worrying.
1320Lichtie
My grandad said that when my gran and him were going away to a party or whatever in Glasgow and they'd already had a decent bevy they used to drive into town from Anniesland and buy drink all the time. Said the police didn't even bother. Used to take turns driving a van full of people from the Tolbooth Bar to Celtic Park too. Both passed away now so I can't pick him up on it if it's declared as bullshit by PnB but it seemed legit to me when he told me.Would've been the mid 50s/early 60s.

Out on some of the Hebridean islands they all still get pished and drive home as there's no police on some of the islands and the laird's usually a drunken bampot as well.

mizfit
I think it's quite clear, the people of Scotland don't want another Forth Road Bridge.
CountyFan
Given that it's a multi-billion pound public contract this will surprise absolutely nobody.
MEADOWXI
They'll still get it open before the AWPR. Apparently it rains and causes the ground to get wet in Aberdeenshire and that can slow the works....And they didn't factor this in

The road is 50 years too late, can't be any bigger a delay in history than that one?!!!

However, they should have made Balmedie-Tipperty dual carriageway long before now. It's dual between Ellon and Tipperty and then suddenly it's back to single lane. Very dangerous if you don't know the road.

Not sure how old you are, but when you think of the accidents over the years and volume of traffic for the fish industry and more recently oil related articulated lorries, the area councils have failed the people for years. Compared to the central belt we are way behind.

Far too many cocky drivers caused accidents there.
