Britain facing ‘worst of both worlds on living standards’

Very significant that an anti socialist newspaper should be saying this, although the timing is bad coming in the week they are being lampooned for posting the same story twice in their print edition.

Who the hell is that talking in the House of Commons? It looks like Ad Lib in drag.

Initial Scottish budget vote today.  The SNP are going to have to realise that they are no longer a majority administration.

I hope the Greens stick to their position.  Harvie says he is willing to negotiaite and compromise but I trust he won't capitulate.

My understanding is he said he would not vote it down at this stage as we would be in an emegency budget situation that would lead to significant cuts.  However there are further stages prior to a final decision at which the Greens will seek to have amendements accepted.  If I have that wrong I am happy to be corrected.

They have been in meetings with the finance secretary about it and seem happy enough

I've reached a deal with @scotgp for all stages of the budget to pass. Good news for the economy, taxpayers, communities & public services.

According to the BBC website a deal has been done on the threshold for the 40p tax rate.  I thought there were restrictions on the thresholds!

As for the bit of your post that i have highlighted, it's not like you to troll.

How can it be good news for taxpayers who have to pay more tax than those earning the same wages elsewhere?

Its good news that the tory tax cut for the top earners isnt being applied here

I don't think they'll survive not getting the extra £6.
