The Partick Thistle thread

The board need to act this weekend and sack Archibald and Paterson. It was woeful today, absolutely woeful. I’m totally sick of his bloody 4231 formation, a sole striker, the inability to change things when it’s obviously not working. IF the directors still think that Archibald will lead us back to the Premier League then they’re as deluded as him.

How about Scott Paterson as manager and Archie as assistant?

We finished that game today punting the ball up to a non-existent Connor Sammon. Cant argue with taking Dools off as he was having a poor game, but the series of tactical switches up front resulted in us looking increasingly less likely to score.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Board has looked to other clubs in the Scottish game for a blueprint to rebuild in the face of our current challenge.

Having seen the current Premier League leaders identify an individual in an executive position with previous managerial experience, we believe that continuity is necessary at this difficult time. We are therefore pleased to announce that Gerard Britton will assume the post of manager with immediate effect, with Alan Rough as his assistant. Alan and Scott will stay on with the club as first team and reserve coach respectively. Chair Jacqui Low told ptfc.co.uk:

”We will get back to playing the Partick Thistle way.”

New manager, Gerry told us:

“It’s great.”

To hear the full interviews with Club Chair Jacqui Low and the new manager, please pay £8.99 a month.

Partick Thistle Chairman, Jacqui Low, said:

“It is with regret that the Board of Partick Thistle Football Club today terminated the contracts of Alan Archibald and Scott Paterson. As a Club with a proud reputation for supporting and backing its managers, this decision was not taken lightly. But it has been taken in the best interests of the football club and our fans.

“We gave Alan our full support following relegation but were clear from the outset that our sole objective was to secure promotion back to the Premiership. However, results have not met our expectations so if we are to still achieve our aim, a change had to happen now.

“The Board wishes to place on record our genuine gratitude and thanks to Alan for his outstanding service to this Club as player, captain, coach and manager. Over his tenure as manager, Thistle experienced many high points – not least promotion to the Premiership, consolidation in that division over several seasons and an unprecedented top six finish in season 2016/17. These achievements are now woven in to the fabric of the Club’s history and can never be diminished.  Alan and Scott leave the Club with our very best wishes for their future careers.”

Partick Thistle has now begun the search for a new manager with a deadline set for interested candidates to register their interest with Chief Executive, Gerry Britton, no later than Friday 12th October. An interim management team of Gerry and Head of the Youth Academy, Scott Allison, will take charge of the team for Saturday’s game and until an appointment has been made.
