Think Mahon playing 90 mins in the 2nd leg of the play off was the only minutes either got between signing in January and the start of the next season. They both played in the League Cup group stages and had shockers, tbf. Mahon refused to accept a bench slot and forced his way out the club, Bair was happier to wait for another chance which never came. Cleary was a regular and only left for personal reasons, he'd probably still be a regular if he'd been able to stay. Bair had chances to stake his claim last season, particularly at the start, but didnt manage to. Im fairly sure he had a sliding doors moment v someone at McDiarmid where he had a fairly simple shot from 16 yards and he managed to balloon it over the stand instead. It why im unconvinced anymore game time wouldve helped his cause, as if youre shite for 18/25 games but okay for 7, youre not "proving youre good enough", youre still a net negative. We took a chance on someone called Scott McDonald and he came on and scored a debut goal in a cup game at Perth. On the flip side, there's David Ferrere.
