Was he not playing for Celtic and well out of our price range at the point he would have got a game for us? I think that game was Smith in microcosm really: a great shot stopper and capable of making incredible saves but his decision making was usually chronic. Especially coming for crosses or under the high ball. He was a character though. Maybe it's just a bit of nostalgia but my memories of his first 2 seasons are pretty positive - did he no get a call up for Scotland around then? He is capable of a good game. But equally he is capable of being utter garbage. Our recent bad run started when we lost 3-1 at Ross C when we had a man advantage. If I recall correctly McGinley was robbed (not for the 1st time) outside the box that led to the 2nd Ross C goal. Again not the 1st time his weak defending has directly cost us. I wish him well.
