At the last presser Robinson gave he was saying that (unsurprisingly) Tanner would be miles off our first team and we'd consider loaning him out if he signed the short term deal. I'd guess (hope) that the contract that was on the table would have been reflective of that ie: it wouldn't have been much. If he's managed to get a better offer then absolutely fair fucks to him. Beyond our 3 starters we have Semple, Maguire, Sloth. Semple is only really an attacking mid, Maguire is a defensive player and not really a midfielder.
