Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Recommended Posts

Hopefully everything will be clear with the squad by this time next week.

I really can't understand the Alston situation. Whatever you make of him as a player, he's started 1 of the last 20 and just 4 of the last 31 matches. Surely you strive to recruit a player that is going to be more involved than that?

Couple of signings announced before everyone disappears on holiday would set us up nicely for next season.

We're probably a striker away from a very decent starting 11. Maybe a 2nd striker, a right back, a goalie, a midfielder and centre back on top of that?

Jog ma memory, is Kyle McClean more of a holding mid than an attacking?

I think he's more of an advanced midfielder, whereas McCann is probably more comfortable sitting. I've not seen either of them very often if I'm honest.

That’s how I would sum them both up as well, going on their limited first team appearances so far.

It seems we have moved into the 21st century and we've introduced online ticketing for next season. This is terrific news. The only bummer being you can't renew your season ticket via this system, only new applications and match day tickets this summer.

New Season tickets available from the 31st of May, seems you can renew your exist one right away. An adult season ticket is £325 for the East Stand with a load of other prices trickling down for concessions and people under the age of 20.

Edit: We're replacing the old season ticket books with a season ticket card, which I am almost certain to lose.

This is all very exciting stuff! What with our TV channel this season, we’ve almost become a 21st February club, only another 20 years to catch up with everyone else. [emoji23]

I wouldn't get to excited until you know who your online ticketing service is being provided by.

I believe ours is provided by Interstadia and to call it 20th century, much less 21st would be fanciful at best.

It’s a company called Future Ticketing.

Season tickets available from the 31st of May. No word on the prices yet but I doubt they'll be too outlandish.

That’s good news.

Hopefully the club offer matchday tickets £1 or £2 cheaper if bought online before the day of the game.  Encourage folk to buy in advance and less likely to chuck it if they don’t fancy it on the day of the game.  Away and home fans.

Also could offer ticket bundles so supporters could buy for 6 matches or whatever in advance and get a saving.  Might suit folk who work shifts and miss too many Saturdays to justify a season ticket.

Also means it should be easier to predict how much catering we provide, and might have enough steak and chorizo pies for everyone that wants one!

Average home league attendance this season was 3891, a handful up on the previous season.  Apart from a few better seasons possibly due to the way the fixtures fell, or the post-cup win bounce, it's pretty much around the norm of about 3900.

2008-09 - 3502.  (First Division, 1st/10. Champions)

2009-10 - 4717. (Prem 8th/12)

2010-11 - 3841. (Prem 8th/12)

2011-12 - 4169. (Prem 6th/12, qualified for europa league)

2012-13 - 3921. (Prem 3rd/12, qualified for europa league)

2013-14 - 3806. (Prem 6th/12, Scottish Cup Winners, qualified for europa league)

2014-15 - 4592. (Prem 4th/12, qualified for europa league)

2015-16 - 3879. (Prem 4th/12)

2016-17 - 4392. (Prem 4th/12, qualified for europa league)

2017-18 - 3809 (Prem 8th/12)

2018-19 - 3891 (Prem 7th/12)

Looked them up and they seem to solely do Irish stuff, so this is a bit of a branch out for them.

Hope it's all successful, imagine there'll be kinks early doors that leads to WAP threads about taking the cheap option...

It's a shame home attendances aren't separated. Always mean to start writing down away attendances when they're announced so it's easier to figure it out once the season ends.

Yes, would be interesting to see average away support across the league as well.  See how our 236 compares...

Been a bit different from what would have been anticipated by the club I'd imagine in terms of the supports clubs have brought to McDiarmid.  E.g. Hearts travelling support has dropped off a cliff the past few years. Lucky if they brought 1000 for a midweek game, and Dundee's support for the pre (and post) split games were understandably much poorer than might have been hoped for when the fixtures were announced at the start of the season.

On the flip side, killie bringing well over 1000, and the buddies around 700 a couple of times, were far better than might have been expected.

I was keeping track of the attendance splits but, much like the team, chucked it in the new year...

  • Hibernian: 4,637 (2,399/2,238)
  • Dundee: 4,259 (3,037/1,222)
  • Aberdeen: 4,880 (2,481/2,399)
  • Celtic: 5,993
  • St Mirren: 2,716 (2,068/648)
  • Hamilton: 2,175 (2,043/132)
  • Kilmarnock: 3,559 (2,474/1,084)
  • Motherwell: 2,302
  • Rangers: 7,086
  • Livingston: 1,946 (1,788/158)

Also had a record of away supports up until the same time:

  • Kilmarnock (389)
  • (Cup) Queen of South (393)
  • Hamilton (437)
  • Rangers
  • Hearts (584)
  • Motherwell (249)
  • Livingston (405)
  • Hibernian (576)
  • Aberdeen (325)
  • St Mirren (483)
  • Dundee (1,836)
  • Hearts (665)

Really surprised that our average attendance hasn't rocketed to 45000 since Sevco reached the top league. I'm sure we were promised it would [emoji50]
