Then there's the whole buzz of playing different teams and following them abroad. I think most of us would prefer that to slogging it out in the League Cup groups.

The "race for Europe" might as well be called the "scramble to avoid the league cup group stages"

I saw a headline yesterday before the game about St Mirren battling to avoid European elimination. Similar negative vibes, so you might be on to something.

I’m guessing everyone has given up watching 🤷‍♂️

Nah just waiting until the group league stage was finalised, as we knew it was just going to be the same three Scottish clubs in the same competitions as last season. Here's how it stands after qualifying:

2 wins in 16 matches in Europe so far.....

14 matches is it not?

Killie 1 win 3 draws 2 losses

St Mirren 1 win 2 draws 1 loss

Hearts 2 losses

Rangers 1 draw 1 loss

So 2 wins 6 draws and 6 losses in 14 games.

Killie and St Mirren propping up the coefficient

Are we still in a position where 5th in the League will qualify for Europe (assuming one of the top 4 wins the Scottish Cup), or does that still depend on the performance of our clubs in Europe this season?

We still have 5 places up for grabs this season.

Have to rank top 15 to retain 5 for next season (title holder slots aren't cascaded in the same way now); at this early stage we're 17th but it's tight 11th-18th.

My auld bralt mate Monkey Tennis will be delighted with some points towards the coefficient.

Now now. That is being Anti-Scottish. MT wants no teams to play in Europe so celebrating any points is heresy.

Scotland are currently 23rd for this season with the points from 20-21 dropping off which was the most from the pervious 5yrs (8.5).  Even a few wins might not be enough to stop Scotland dropping out of the top 20 for 2026.
