Keeps the 3rd group stage spot, but stops the league winners going straight into the CL. Would give the league winner the chance to pick up points in qualifying or drop into the Europa groups where they would pick up more points than in the Champions League groups.

the philosopher
This week must surely be a good week Celtic,Aberdeen & Rangers all win. WELL DONE ALL.
Ginaro
Before tonight we were on 4.000 for the season, great week of results to get to 6.200 - and there was certainly points dropped over the campaign by all three sides. Looks like we'll finish at least 11th as the Swiss are unlikely to catch us (impossible for Austria or Denmark even if their clubs won all games), but the Czechs taking advantage of only have 4 clubs with 3 of them still in Europe. As we have the largest score for 19/20 outside the top 7, that drops off next season so we'll be in a big fight top 15, at least this week's points brings us much closer to 11th. Aberdeen's 5.5 club points is the largest for anyone outwith Celtic and Rangers since they score 6.0 in 2007/08, will be useful for them to help with seeding should they get into Europe next season. Celtic keep their 57th / 32.000 while Rangers move up 5 to 26th with 62.000. 9 Turkey 5.000 3.100 6.700 11.800 10.500 37.100 2/ 4 10 Scotland 9.750 8.500 7.900 3.500 6.200 35.850 1/ 5 11 Czech Republic 2.500 6.600 6.700 6.750 12.000 34.550 3/ 4 12 Switzerland 6.400 5.125 7.750 8.500 4.000 31.775 2/ 5 13 Austria 5.800 6.700 10.400 4.900 3.800 31.600 1/ 5 14 Denmark 5.125 4.125 7.800 5.900 8.500 31.450 1/ 4 https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/method5/crank2024.html Edited December 14, 2023 by Ginaro

I think finishing in the top 12 means that 3rd place in next season's Premiership will have group stage football guaranteed again. Worth about 5-10 million for whoever gets it so must be a big positive for the league.

Irrational Behaviour
Not a great night for Scotland last night coefficient wise.
10menwent2mow
Czech Rep only 0.5 behind now. A Rangers defeat combined with with the Czech clubs picking up 3 points from their 3 games (3 draws or a win and a draw) will see them move up to Tenth meaning no guaranteed Champions league spot. 11th and 12th I'd say are the goldilocks spots for us. Still means the Cup Winners or 3rd place team are guaranteed Conference league groups while the Bigot Brothers don't get in the CL.
Bully Wee Villa
From a coefficient point or view would it not be better if Celtic and Rangers get punted into the Europa League Group Stage every year? They'd likely win a few group games and you'd expect at least one to make the knockout stages each year.

Probably, but I think you get bonus coefficient points for qualifying for the Champions League, so it would only be beneficial if the points picked up in the Europa League exceed the CL bonus points. I am not sure how that will be impacted with the new European competition formats from next season though.
Todd_is_God
If Plzen lose this shoot out will that keep Scotland guaranteed 10th? Or if they win it do they just need a draw in a leg in the next round to go into 10th?
Arch Stanton
Plzen win 3-1 on penalties.

We are 0.500 ahead and Czechia get 0.250 for the Plzen draw after ET, but I just realised there are no bonus points for getting to the ECL QF so we are still in 10th. However a draw in either leg will put them level on points but they win the tie breaker due to more points in the current season. Depends on who Plzen get in the QF draw... If we can just hover 11-12 all the time, that'll do fine.

Arch Stanton
Plzen drew 0-0 with Fiorentina. That should ensure Czech Republic go above Scotland in the coefficient table.
Barry Ferguson's Hat
Thank God, the constant embarrassment was getting tiresome. Ideally only one of the OF would qualify for any European tournament each year because the rest just make an absolute arse of it. If Scottish clubs had any dignity whatsover they'd withdraw before the humiliation was allowed to happen.
