FW, Souleymane Camara, Senegal (Apparently retiring at the end of the season, which in France has happened).

FW, Sebastian Abreu, Uruguay.

FW, Roque Santa Cruz, Paraguay.

DF, Julio Cesar Caceres, Paraguay.

FW, Joaquin, Spain.

MF, Emre Belozoglu, Turkey.

MF, Mohamed Al-Shalhoub, Saudi Arabia.

FW, Bartholomew Ogbeche, Nigeria.

GK, Austin Ejide, Nigeria.

FW, Zlatan, Sweden.

FW, Carlos Tenorio, Ecuador.

GK, Daniel Viteri, Ecuador.

GK, Gigi Buffon, Italy.

MF, Shinji Ono, Japan.

MF, Junichi Inamoto, Japan.

GK, Hitoshi Sogahata, Japan.

These are the ones I can find where there's no evidence of them actually retiring/not having a club currently.

I see Buffon has retired. He was obviously fairly decent.

On a related note, I compiled the above list a while back of 2002 WC players who were still playing. I think Buffon's retirement means the only ones remaining are:

FW, Roque Santa Cruz, Paraguay.

FW, Bartholomew Ogbeche, Nigeria.

MF, Shinji Ono, Japan.

MF, Junichi Inamoto, Japan.

GK, Carlos Kameni, Cameroon (who I originally missed).

Ono played in the 98 World Cup as well.

Roque Santa Cruz seems to be doing the best out of all these names. Still featuring regularly for Libertad, who are currently the best team in Paraguay and competing in the Copa Sudamericana (SA's equivalent to the Europa League).

Libertad, incidentally, seem to have one of the most "experienced" squads of players I've ever seen. In addition to Santa Cruz, they have Oscar Cardozo, Cristian Riveros and Martin Silva (all 40 years old) playing regularly, and there are plenty of other players in their mid-30s in the squad.

Ono is still registered as a player for Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo in Japan's top league, but hardly plays these days as far as I'm aware. He gets a few minutes at the end of a cup game now and again, but is defintiely there more in a talisman and mentoring capacity (which is fair enough given he's 43!). Inamoto still plays reasonably regularly in Japan's equivalent of non-league.

On Buffon, it's the end of an era but, sadly, probably the right decision for Parma as far as football goes. Was great to see him back and I'm sure it sold a lot of shirts and tickets, but whilst he had some good moments last season he was also a liability at times. Constantly chopping and changing the goalkeeper to start Buffon when he was fit certainly didn't help Parma's promotion push either.

I see Napoli have deleted some outrageously racist tik tok or instagram videos they posted about Osimhen (one calling him a coconut). I don't see that they've addressed the videos in any way to apologise to the player or say they've binned the media team or whatever.

Shame the fans in Italy are still so unashamedly racist.

I saw the post on Twitter, terrible stuff from the official account.

He's just scored.
