Favourite quirks of Scottish stadiums.

I never realised the stand enclosure went before the Celtic and Rangers ends.

The goalposts tell you it was taken in that transitional phase.

Funnily enough, the first glimpse of these posts was I think, when your team, Dundee visited Queens Park in the League Cup in August 1987.

The Cup final and Scotland games of the previous May featured the huge deep stanchioned affairs that should definitely be recreated.

I don’t know anyone who calls them the east/west/north or whatever they’re called.

Sycophantic, craven cretins

I do. I have absolutely no idea what ends meant to the "Rangers/Celtic" end.

The appropriate one should be renamed 'The Hibs End' after a certain event in 2016...

By the same logic the “Lisbon Lions” Stand at parkhead should be the Heart of Midlothian Stand after a similar event in 1998

We could name the other end the “Hibernian” end to commemorate 1902 and then name the north Stand “Chloe” for shits and giggles

Same here, and tbh I couldn't give a f**k which is which.

I haven't been to hampden for a few years, but this is complete news to me. They were traditionally just known as the Celtic/rangers End. If you were playing them in a final or semi, it was basically just a home game for them anyway.

So what do you refer to them as? The mount Florida/ kings park ends as mentioned above?  I'd never heard that until reading this.

Ends of an away ground are probably known as something different to different teams; the two ends at Celtic park are the Stevens:  Macca End the furthest away, Ando End at the away end.  Ibrox has The Stevie May End, but the far end has no name.. guess it could well be the Alston End after a couple of screamers he scored there.

We don't seem to have the same memorable names for ends in Scotland like there is down south: the kop, Stretford End, Holte End, the old north bank, Gallowgate etc etc.

The shed at tannadice, but Utd fans don't even go in that bit anymore, the Beach end at Pittodrie and the Jungle (along the side) are long gone.  Can't think of too many others...  We used to be in 'the Enclosure' at Muirton along the side of the pitch. But the ends were well known as the Ice Rink End and the Town End.

Naming stands after people is fair enough but it's fairly forgettable to everyone else really.

Don't really call them anything! Always try to sit in the north or south stands so it rarely comes up, but if I am in there, I'd probably say West or East stand.

Yes fair enough. In the days before it gone 'done up' , my mate tried to insist on it being called the covered enclosure or the open end as he was dead against the rangers/Celtic end names. I never thought too much about it, just that it was the names they'd been known as from decades gone by so went along with it.

But I agree, I'd never want to sit in either again, terrible view.

Have only ever referred to them as east and west stands . No idea which is supposed to be the rangers end or the Celtic end and the idea of referring to them in that way imo belongs on another thread on here for tinpot things about the Scottish league.
