NotThePars
@Inanimate Carbon Rod I know it's ten months later but if May's deal passes you're giving 20 quid to a charity.

CaspianChris
Hopefully this ends up with the complete and utter destruction of the Conservative party if it passes.

sophia
Poor Boris, his wee chubby face is wobbly with stress and he hasn't quite got that his gargoyle look when he's getting a telt is a look unbecoming of a prime minister
NotThePars
Wait, so is Blackford now saying they won't support an election tonight?

They need to force it to be post 31st march then force him to ask EU for a further extension, get rid of him in the interim and leave with a deal. At least that's my reading of it. Aye but Sturgeon was giving it the big one earlier saying Labour were scared of an election and the SNP aren't.
sophia
It's for the giggles that BJ will have to go and ask for an extension
killiefan27
As I understand it, once an election is voted for then Boris gets to set the date. So he'd just dissolve parliament and set it for after October 31. Which is why Labour and the SNP won't vote for one now.

If they voted for it tonight, Johnson could change the date of the election from 15th October to after Halloween, in order to force a hard brexit when parliament is closed.
doulikefish
In case everybody missed it the eu announced major funding to cover member states in case of a no deal brexit

That is when our A50 extension runs out and we would face No Deal Brexit, he wants it before so he can lap up the Brexit voter without the fall out.

Labour MPs were clear they wanted a later date not an earlier one. Boris can bluster and promise the Earth up to October 31. After then he would either face extending A50 or being in a No Deal world. Also an election before October 31 would mean if he won he could revoke the Benn law preventing No Deal..

He wants to scupper the block on a hard brexit on October 31st by promising an election on October 15th, then switching the date till after he's delivered a no deal Brexit, getting the Brexit Party on board. He has the power to do that. Edited September 4, 2019 by welshbairn

Inanimate Carbon Rod
This notion that the snp are suddenly against a general election is utter mince. However stupidly agreeing to one on Johnsons terms so he can shoehorn in a ‘no deal’ is something we can avoid.
