The Official Former President Trump thread

Interesting questions on Meadows and the extent of his “immunity” deal. Is it a “total immunity” deal, or a “partial immunity” deal…the situation is being held very closely, ABC’s reporting isn’t verified yet, and even that doesn’t use the phrase total immunity. Interesting to see what happens.

Meadows knows everything, he was in on the call to the Georgia election guy Raffensperger with Trump demanding he flips Biden votes to his side or he'd stick the Feds on him, and was sitting with Trump in the Whitehouse on Jan 6th watching the action on TV for 3 hours before Trump did anything to stop it.. Supposedly he's been blabbing to Jack Smith for months.

There is a possibility the Cookie Monster might have been a better option than the last two US presidents.

And the last 3 UK Prime Ministers

Truss should've hired him as a spad so he'd have eaten the lettuce and she'd have outlasted it.

Dear, dear, it must then be shocking to you that the Trump wing is now in a fight to even keep a minor ally in the Speaker of the House role, eh? Trump, as a force in the Republican Party, is waning, and your stubborn unwillingness to consider that possibility is enough of a sign that you might need someone to dab the corners of your mouth.

The “shutdown” of Congress has already backfired on the Trump faction because all their “trumps” have been eliminated from contention. The institutional wing/Bush wing of the Republican Party is now in the ascendancy in the House, which is potentially bad for Democrats in the 2024 election if Trump is removed from the scene due to legal issues.

Yep, a crushing victory for moderate Republicanism over Trump's faction in the end. 🤡  🤡 🤡

Looks like Trump has breached his gag order in NY trial again.  It will be interesting to see how the judge will deal with it this time.

$10,000, and called Trump not a credible witness.

So, you consider a low key, low seniority Speaker being named a victory over the institutional Republicans? Let’s get a few fact straight here…1) Roughly 70% of the Republican House voted against certifying at least one of the States electors in 2020. So the fact that Johnson did so is hardly a crushing win for the Freedumb Caucus….2) Depending upon the group tracking it, the Freedumb Caucus has 45 or 46 members (and their deputy leader is Jordan, who crashed and burned). That comprises about 21% of the House Republican membership and they still failed to get one of their members elected….3) Johnson has remained low-key and not pissed off anyone, and has also worked with Democrats over the past two Congresses, which is how he got elected for, effectively, three months.

This was a clear defeat for the Trump side in that the non-collaborative options put forward were all defeated. It was effectively inevitable that the nominee wouled be pro-Trump, based upon the numbers in the House. So, you spin away however Vlad wants you to.

There are dozens of stories online about how difficult it was to brief him when he was President.  The attention span of a five year old with the analytic capacity to match.

I liked how they started including the phrase "President Trump" in briefings every three sentences because, if they didn't, he'd get bored and wouldn't read the rest of it.

So you'd get something like...

Before: "tensions between India and Pakistan have been exacerbated in recent years. India claims to have evidence that several terrorist attacks were funded by the government of Pakistan. As both countries are nuclear powers, this situation could result in disaster should diplomacy break down".

After: "tensions between India and Pakistan have been exacerbated in recent years. India claims to have evidence that several terrorist attacks were funded by the government of Pakistan. As both countries are nuclear powers, much like President Trump's United States, this situation could result in disaster should diplomacy break down".

How did the Institutional Republicans get on in successfully naming a Speaker to represent him?

Your stupidity in doing victory laps at denying one of the literally scores of batshit mental authoritarians swarming over your democracy is like Albion Rovers celebrating stopping a few shots in a 7-0 pumping.

Let’s see…so you create a “thing” that I never claimed or said to attack me, and then claim a victory by referencing your own creation?! Just turn off the computer and have another glass, m8.

I am not overly familiar with the US state or federal court systems, however I cannot imagine any other defendant making derogatory comments about judges or prosecutors and not getting sanctioned.

There’s a few things at play here:

1) Pulpit: Trump has a megaphone that’s near unrivaled, and thus anything he says is rebroadcast all over.

2) Threat: Trump’s fans have acted in the past, and this therefore increases the risk going forward. That gets the system’s attention.

3) Doxxing: The rise of this practice, combined with the threat of his followers acting, is near unprecedented.

4) The 24 Hour News Cycle and the Internet/Social Media: OJ Simpson was a mundane murder case made bigger by fame and TV. This whole fiasco is this generations version on the OJ Trial. Also, the new online media model NEEDS content all the time.

5) Racism: Trump dog whistles racism from sunrise to sunset. He’s mad Jack Smith is so whitebread, as he has to resort to calling him crazy instead of his usual tactics.

6) Low knowledge population: An increasing percentage of the U.S. population gets its news from a politically stratified source, and the overall quality of U.S. education has fallen, so civic knowledge and engagement is so low that some people believe nearly anything.

Its a cult. The cult members are nutters. The judges and prosecutors in Trump’s many cases are targets for these nutters. They have to be very careful.

There’s also the real possibility that Trump is actively trying to get a night in the jail. Sell more t-shirts to the crackpots.
