NorthBank
I hope Cody comes on to be a great asset but it is a bit early IMHO to consider him to be a starter in the team. He only started a couple of League games last season and was poor in them. Yes he scored a hat trick, as a sub, against a 10 man Dundee and he put a poor Championship centre half under great pressure in 2 play-off games but I would have great reservations to consider him as our starting centre forward as he is still unproven. I'll give him a chance that he has earned but certainly not as the first choice striker.

Inexpensive loan deal at a push.

AW saint
I hope the May story is a non starter. He has struggled to find the net for Aberdeen. Not the player he was. Saying that we would have no chance of signing him if he was.
meadowroadsaint
Saw the Dons a few times last year and they do not play to Stevie’s strengths and the Dons fans around me said the same. A loan might be the restart the lad needs.

See Greg Stewart for another similar example or Warburton persisting with O’Halloran as a striker based on one game against Rangers.

Not sure how they've managed to ruin him quite so much. I'd definitely take May. I'm not sure how much better we could realistically hope for, tbh.

It could go either way for whichever club signs him. Bit of a punt, so if it involved significant outlay, I'd tend to steer clear. In any event, I have heard of a potentially more promising (if equally unlikely) possibility....

Say all you want but May has played off the striker, off the left, off the right and through the middle enough times to prove himself. He is not the same player he was back at St Johnstone but he could do well for a smaller club like St Mirren or St Johnstone where theres not much pressure week in week out. As for the Greg Stewart myth. First season he wasn't fit and admitted it himself and hit form towards end of the season. Goes to Killie fit and does well, comes back and looks great in his first game playing in the same role as he was at Killie and then gets an injury which hampers him for the rest of the season. Playing with pain killing injections the rest of his time and eventually missing a good few games at the end of the season. Stewart played predominantly in the number 10 role second time round.
glenburn bud
I would love to see May on loan at St Mirren for no other reason than pissing off all the fakes, who remain the biggest shower of wankers on this forum.

Stu
The two Saints and the two Dundee clubs want him according to this: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4448968/stevie-may-wanted-by-four-scottish-clubs-as-aberdeen-exit-looms/ Article claims if United want him they'd need to offload Osman Sow - were we not linked with him in January? Not saying we should sign him, just that it may happen. Edited July 5, 2019 by Stu

We were and I hope he gets absolutely nowhere near us. Useless fucking lump. Edit: United aren't fucking about, mind. Imagine taking on the Championship with May and Shankland up front. Make it all the funnier when they get beaten by Morton on penalties in the playoff semi final. I'd much rather start with Cody Cooke. May might be worth a punt, he's off the boil but let's be honest if he wasn't he wouldn't be linked with us. As for Dundee Utd, they won't get it all their own way. Dundee have recruited well and I reckon both Inverness and Thistle will be strong. It would be great to see Utd make a rip roaring balls up of it again.
