Strain would be a huge loss.

There was a lot of chat about valuations for Baccus, but I reckon Strain is our prized asset by some distance.  Only worth what someone will pay for him, but anything less than £500K would be robbery!

I really, really hope he stays.

Thing about Strain for me is he's quite specialised. He plays that right wing back role specifically and doesn't seem particularly flexible, so he'd need to go somewhere where they play that system, which might also be why he's found Australia caps harder to come by, unlike Baccus who plays a position and a style that most teams of his level could accommodate. I suppose that could work either way on his value, but the market of clubs to sell him to might be smaller than we think.

That's a fair point.

He certainly hugs the right touchline when he plays.  He is also a bit of a dead ball specialist, right enough, and that is another marketable attribute.

Strain is a fantastic right wing back. Best in the League in my opinion. We have never played him anywhere else so no idea how he'd get on in other positions. I look at Paul McGinn who could play centre back, full back and wing back. Reckon Strain could easily play these positions and maybe even right winger as well!

We are skint now after McMenamin and we now have Nah-mani 💲

But wait... another strike still to come, and...

Indeed, as I’ve already said on this thread - and bearing in mind that the article primarily about Ethan Sutherland:

”Fraser Taylor, Aiden Gilmartin, Lewis Jamieson, Luke Kenny, Kieran Offord – we’re trying to push them and that’s the mentality and philosophy of the club moving forward.

“We’re going to carry five, six, seven of our young players in our squad all the time. We’re not going to inflate our squad with loads of senior players.

I'd count around 20 senior players there, although Carson may be gone soon. Wouldn't surprise me if we only bring in a couple more.

He will rotate the young boys he is talking about too. There may be 7 they identify that will be in and around the squad though not possibly all at once.

Reading various articles and this quote from Robinson appears to indicate that we’ll be keeping the 3-5-2 formation and McMenamin will be slotted into it:

"We’ve signed a very good footballer that can play in numerous positions. He can play right through the middle, as a wing-back and in behind the striker, so we’ve got a really versatile player who can score goals and create chances.”
