Wonder if he's getting his wires crossed and thinks the goal line clearance which probably was a goal, but was not given.

There can be no other explanation for that wording. He genuinely doesn't know. 😀

Standards have slipped wildly in his field over the years. At least it saves me from wasting my time reading any future article I encounter with his name at the top of it.

I'm not saying they have slipped but he's corrected the error regarding the controversial goal. We now won due to a fine goalkeeping performance.

From Trevor Carson 🤣🤣🤣

Hes' probably just having a laugh with us by this point. 😀

It's a pity. It's an attempt at a positive article otherwise. A bit like when you're watching John Hartson trying to wing it when he's talking about someone other than Celtic.

I don’t mind any journo’ writing an article that includes their opinion on a situation. Let’s say the journo’ was writing about the Dundee game, and stated something like the ball “didn’t look to have crossed the line, and play raged on…”. It’s when someone gets paid for writing shite that cannot even get facts correct that does my tits in. Anyone think a review of an Old Firm game would get written (and actually printed) with something like ‘Celtic kept themselves in it with two great saves from Fraser Forster’... When Joe Hart is stood standing there in a yellow strip and big white gloves? No, me neither. Kunt should be embarrassed to pick up his wages this week.

The journo’, not Joe Hart. 😀

Often think folk on here go over the top to find submissions for the "terrible journalism" thread. That article though - deary me 🤣

At least his boss will be happy because it'll be getting loads of clicks from Saints fans spotting all the errors.

Well you're a journalist of sorts Stu, does no one ever check someone else's work for accuracy before publication?

The most ridiculous thing is that anyone, anywhere, is writing an article about league positions after two games.

We've all had our fun with being top on Saturday night etc, but what sort of desperate twat actually thinks there's anything there worth analysis? Absolutely nuts.

Why is anyone taking notice of the Herald, it's not like it doesn't have a very long record of getting things wrong or putting out stupid opinions. This applies to their politics as much as their sporting "output".

Oooft, harsh!

Although I am right far far more times than the Herald, and what I write is backed up by evidence rather than a general desire to print "fear and anger" porn, or loving up the tories.

That said if you wish to pay me £2 a day, or whatever exorbitant price the Herald asks for these days, to spout shite, I'm happy to do that.. ;)

It wasn’t so much about the league position as such but the great start we’ve had to the season

The journalist is question obviously has a problem with, wants us to crash and burn and, worst of all, has written the original article and then rewritten it without actually knowing what he’s talking about.

The guy is a total clown and how an idiot like that can actually make a living out of writing total shite is incredible.

Good luck to him though if he can get away with it

He’s certainly not alone in the clown status of guys who are masquerading as journalists at the Herald.

Quite a sad attitude, really. Stop and think about it.

How would you feel if you had a disappointing day at work and then a few hundred wee bangers that you've never even met and who would all love to have your job started bombarding you with stick about it on social media?

One of the worst things about the Twitter age is the idea of proximity to famous people and this feeling of entitlement to just be a dick to anyone any time you choose. Not unique to St Mirren fans or to this situation, but it's just fucking sad.

I don't agree with this at all, for a number of reasons.

You quite rightly state that the 'wee bangers' are envious of Carson's job. Indeed, they are, because being a professional footballer is something millions of people aspire to but never attain. He's living the dream, so to speak. At St. Mirren he was earning a salary of £83,000,  if this source is to believed: https://salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/st.-mirren/ , and even if it isn't reliable I would suggest his earnings would be close to that. It was these 'wee bangers' who were indirectly paying his salary, remember.

Let's not pretend that being a footballer isn't pretty lucrative, glamorous and when you're doing well you will be adored and quite literally hailed as a hero by his club and in the national press:

Tell me, when was the last time you were hailed as a hero in the media for doing your job? Part of being a footballer involves receiving media coverage and having a public profile. He's a minor celebrity.

The idea that he's just your average guy, going to work and coming home is absurd. As a footballer you can expect praise and adoration when you're doing well - hearing your name chanted from the stands, etc. Conversely, you can also expect public criticism and ridicule when things don't go well for you. That's part and parcel of his job.

Goodwillie would have never attracted the criticism he did, were it not for his profile. Indeed, it was said many times that playing professional sport was a 'privilege' and not just about earning a living, e.g.:

Quote

Second chances within sport are, for me anyway, often harder to stomach. When someone has been convicted of an offence such as rape, it’s hard to convince me that the message sent out is you can again be given the privilege of playing professional sport.

Carson acted appallingly at St. Mirren and, quite rightly, the St. Mirren fans made their feelings known when he played on Saturday. They also made their feelings known on Twitter, a public forum in which he had chosen to participate.

If he'd received threats or similarly unsavoury abuse then I would agree it was out of order. But people making memes of his face and posting songs is perfectly acceptable and the minimum he can expect.

If he cannae hack it, then he should find a new career. The guy's clearly got a fragile ego and it was hilarious seeing him getting wound up on Saturday.

Getting precious about 'poor Carson' is pathetic. Most people work longer hours, for less pay and don't get any of the recognition or prestige footballers get - take a casualty nurse, literally saving lives.

Fucking boooooo! 🤬

"He gets paid loads of money so it's cool to just pile on".

What a load of absolute shite. Have a word with yourself.

David Goodwillie was convicted of rape in a civil court. Carson just decided he wanted to change jobs. This is one of the worst posts I've seen on this site and a good example of why the general public are just not equipped for the social media age. People like you are a danger. Dangerously idiotic stuff.

There's no other way of saying this. But that post makes you come across as a total arsehole.
