We always have someone from another School/department sitting in on these, and it was my turn. My role was to ask the first question (what attracted you to the post). Then, the rest of the interview took place in German. At the end, the chair asked my opinion of the candidates...and no, I don't speak any German. Have any P&Bers ever had a role that was both utterly meaningless and a little bit important at the same time?

Stellaboz
I once had an agency job with the council in Glenrothes, calling people up on their rent arrears. Soul destroying for all involved.
ICTChris
Was chatting to a friend at work today about the dear departed colleague and she said he would stand in the smoking area and chat up women even though he himself did not smoke. A lot of the women who worked in that office had bad vibes from him. If anyone thinks they might be hiring him let me know and I’ll DM you his name so he can be black balled. TBF, I used to go out with the smokers when they'd have a fag break, and I didn't want to shag any of them. They stank of fags, FFS Bollocks to staying in the office for ten minutes while everyone else was trooping out for an extra break, several times a day. (no, it's not me)
Jives Miguel
Thoughts on what to do about colleagues who are incompetent through idiocy and gormlessness, but aren't bad people? I have one who drives me up the wall with the most dumb questions possible. Below is the hall of fame example. I've had two years of this shite.

scottsdad
Just had a visit from the building manager, looking for advice. She took me to the office of a Prof, just along the corridor from me. He retired, cleaned out his office and handed in his keys. Except...his "cleaned out" office is packed with stuff. A whole wall covered in books (academic, fiction and golf-based). Boxes and boxes of just utter tat. Broken clock, dead plants, box files, etc. His desk drawers are all broken, too. It's almost exactly like when he was here, with just a couple of wee things removed. I suggested she reach out to him to see if he wants any of his books and so on back. Failing that, time to hire a skip.
