That was the year Rovers ordered all the strips in the same size. The company wouldn't take them back, so players were signed they would fit.

paulbrucerick
Pinched from The SRE facebook page. Interesting for me because I don't remember the houses on Tryfield Place and they are in the background. Also, check out the early goalie gloves!

They must have had a good deal from the kit company especially as some of the socks look to have been through the wash a few times. On first sight I thought this was a youth/school team until I clocked the moustache and on the guy at the front of the line up (guy behind him could be his brother).

It's well known that goalie gloves were invented by sticking the dimbled rubber from cheap table tennis bats onto gardening gloves. Rumour has it this was on an early 70s version of Dragon's Den.

Well done on that! Davie Provan used to live quite close to where I am now, he died a couple of years ago. But surely he wasn't that tall? And Provan was at another club, wasn't it Palace? Skol/League Cup Final, 22 October 1989, Hampden Park. Skol sponsored the tournament from 1984 to 1989 and, to stamp their 'brand' on the tournament insisted on their own trophy, unwilling to ditch the 40 odd year old cup from the Scottish League but wanting the sponsorship money the SFL compromised by having the rather bizarre solution of two trophies being awarded to the winners. Only winners in this era were Rangers, 4 times and Aberdeen with 2 wins, indeed both teams contested three of the six 'Skol' cup finals between each other. 1984, Rangers 1 Dundee United 0 1985 Aberdeen 3 Hibernian 0 1986 Rangers 2 Celtic 1 1987 Rangers 3 Aberdeen 3 (Rangers won on penalties) 1988 Rangers 3 Aberdeen 2 1989 Rangers 1 Aberdeen 2 Skol sponsorship ended that year and it reverted back to the League Cup the following year with numerous sponsors since then including Coca Cola, Bells Whisky, CIS Insurance and QTS whatever the f**k that is.

Don't think that's right. It was 92 Skol stopped sponsoring it. Here's a photo of the 91 winners, Hibs, in which the trophies are clearly visible (can't mind who they beat...):
