Saturday 19th February 1966 Scottish Cup, Second Round Ross County P-P Rangers at Victoria Park, Dingwall Snow and ice put off the entire R2 card including this game at Highland League outfit Ross County. When the game eventually went ahead on Monday 28th February there was a crowd of 8,500 present (despite afternoon kickoff) which is County's all-time record attendance; goals from Johnston and McLean within 60 seconds of each other around 25mins saw the visitors through. Ross-shire's finest put up a splendid show and had actually forced 3 corners in opening 4mins. However it was against the odds the match happened at all - Victoria Park was a quagmire upon which, after cutting away knee-deep mud, men had worked overnight applying "a dressing of peat fibre" only completed at 5am. Mr Barclay the referee passed it playable that morning but when Rangers arrived at noon they considered it dangerous, requested another inspection, lodged an official objection and instigated a telephone call with officialdom in Glasgow. I'd wear the bag from the oatmeal before I'd touch the Rangers jersey.

Joe McBride behind him im pretty sure. Don't think it was against us. Possibly from 1964 League Cup semi -but it was at Ibrox and I can't find any photos of that game. We wore white with blue pinstripes that season. The 1967 League Cup semi was at Hampden and Celtic wore green shirts and white shorts that night. The team wore these kits in the 1969 Scottish Cup semi.

Wednesday 20th February 1985 SFL Second Division Raith Rovers 2-1 Berwick Rangers at Stark's Park, Kirkcaldy 651 As the Miners Strike drew towards its close an 'emergency programme' was issued for this league game between Raith and Berwick. Leitch and Muir own goal struck for the hosts, Davidson for the visitors. Raith ultimately finished an unimpressive 7th and Berwick a lowly 13th in the 14-team bottom rung.

After 4 or 5 seasons he played more as a full back then midfield. He ended up playing 341 + 1 sub and scored 21 goals leaving in 1973 for Ibrox then moving back to Tayside the same year but to Dundee United before moving to St Johnstone in 1977. Went part-time in his last year or so at United and tried his hand at PE teaching. Photo is of him in our school team photo. Don't think teaching worked out for him, didn't seem interested and was scunnered if he had to take us for anything but football.
Eednud
According to an article on The Times website Hibs and Jim Herriot, at that time ex Dunfermline goalie and two months away from his first Scotland cap, caused Nigel Kennedy to become an Aston Villa fan. No bad Hibs squad on paper. Why Aston Villa? I’m not from Birmingham but when my mum remarried it was to a doctor from Solihull, a City area. In fact, My stepsister took me to a Birmingham v Hibs friendly in 1968. City goalkeeper Jim Herriot let a back-pass slip under his foot and I knew then they weren’t for me. Villa had a better name and a better kit.
Flybhoy
St Mirren goalkeeper Dennis Connaghan pictured in the mid 1960's. He would later have spells at Morton and Celtic. Pretty sure this isn't Love Street as the stand at St Mirren's old ground was quite small and didn't run the entire length of the pitch, im thinking it's either Tynecastle or Brockville. Edit, Firhill could be a shout as well. Edited February 21, 2022 by Flybhoy

The clues to me are the bit at the front above the enclosure (says service), it slightly overshoots plus the enclosure is small, Tynecastle’s was bigger. Plus the floodlights on the roof. And the steel columns. Edited February 21, 2022 by Captain Saintsible
Arch Stanton
It'd definitely Love St. Here's Captain David Lapsley with the Renfrewshire Cup in the 50s and the same "Senior Service" advert.

I think it's Love Street, the roof pillars and standing enclosure look about right ... and as the Captain points out, you can't tell the length of the stand from the photo. Need some buddies to confirm it though.

HibeeJibee
67 years ago today... Monday 21st February 1955 Representative match Scotland 2-3 Scotland B at Easter Road, Edinburgh 7,000 Scotland has suffered more than its fair share of embarrassing defeats down the decades but this is probably among the most forgotten: losing by the odd goal in 5 to their own B team. It was a trial match to help prepare for upcoming Home Nations and B internationals with England, and was the first major representative match staged under Hibs new floodlights. It was played in treacherous conditions - by kickoff the frozen surface was covered by 2 or 3 inches of fresh snow, which deepened during a blizzard post HT - and it kept the crowd to a meagre level. Patrick Buckley scored either side of the interval to put Scotland up 2-0, but a brace from Johnny Davidson and Tommy Gemmell's winner meant an unlikely victory for the second string. Ironically the B international against England B the following month was postponed as Ibrox was hopelessly waterlogged.
