Don Kerrigan also played for the Dons. I always liked him, think he was sold to Hearts. We got Tommy White, think Hearts got the better of the bargain.

Died young in a work related accident.

Don Kerrigan was one of my early heroes.

Stumbled on some old Junior club photographs on the SJFA site..........

Ancient City Athletic: there was an ACA  in Glasgow, but this looks like one of the three St Andrews versions, which may have played at Kinness Park between 1893-1911 in the Howe of Fife Junior League.

Capt. Colt's Rovers were active in Lanarkshire from 1895-1899: the photographer is Airdrie based, which may be a clue as to their home venue.

Priory Rovers were a short lived Lanarkshire club in the late 1890s. (Hamilton based?)

I was trying to find out something about Capt Colt's Rovers and found a Wikipedia entry about this ex-player that was quite interesting:

James Conlin - Wikipedia

The team picture is interesting in that it shows the changing rooms (presumably) in the background rather than the team lined up in front of them.

ETA: Captain Colt seems to have been a local Justice of the Peace.

I suspected Priory Rovers would have been a Blantyre team, as there was an ancient priory just north of the town, of which only a few low, mossy walls now remain. Sure enough, there’s a bit about them here:

A day late but hey ho.

2nd Division Saints thrash ECWC holders Rangers 4-1. Ally McLeod gets all 4 making him only the 2nd away player to do so against Rangers at Ibrox in a competitive game (Alan Gilzean being the 1st).

Didn't Stenhousemuir also beat them in the League Cup that year?

2-1 at Ibrox; albeit effectively a dead-rubber, as Rangers had won 5-0 at Ochilview a fortnight before.

This was during a particularly unsuccessful trial of top 2 in groups going into 2-legged Last 16.

(Season after Clyde achieved the questionable distinction of playing 12 games in the tournament without making it past QFs - and indeed were only 1 goal from adding a replay to that total).

25 August 1982 Dumbarton 2 Dundee 3 (Att: 433) in a Scottish League Cup Group game. Neither team qualified with Dundee 3rd on 6pts and Dumbarton bottom with 0pts. On the same date in 1984 it’s Dumbarton 2 (Joe Coyle 2) Dundee 1 (Ray Stephen) Att: 2,000 in the Premier League. Report from then Dee Archive but programme front pages are exact same as the Dumbarton Archive. The League Cup group standings are an example of abbreviated team names used in the Sporting Post and other DC Thomson papers.

Any other trades amongst our footballers?

I think Andy Anderson was a draftsman. John Harvey ran a post office.

Legendary Chelsea keeper Peter Bonnetti was serving as a postie & running a guest house on Mull when he very briefly came out retirement for a short stint at Dundee United.

Stewart "Wino" Williamson (Cowdenbeath, Meadowbank) was a blacksmith
