Cove v Spartans / Spartans v Cove

Cove look like a team on fire.  Cowden will need some big performances all round if we are to remain in the division. This is stand up and be counted time.

Cove are good and may well prevail. Hopefully Cowden don’t “freeze” like Spartans did.

What kind of team are Cove playing? Full strength or second string?

Only made 1 alteration on Saturday's XI with Daniel Park in for Jonathan Smith.

However neither he nor Ryan Strachan feature on the bench, where Cove have left 2 unused spots.

They did hibee, but feel cove switched off after paul mcmanus's goal, job done and all that.

They seemed to be taking it pretty easy throughout the whole game, Spartans just weren't particularly good, despite the result.

2-1 was a steal. Cove much the better team, but clearly playing within themselves. That the star for Spartans was their keeper tells you all. Thought Spartans were clearly non-League standard. Cove would be comfortable in League Two. So Cowdenbeath probably in trouble over the two legs.

The priority for Cowden is to come down the road with the tie still open, at the very least.  If we can do that, another great escape may be on.  The management team will stand or fall by their team selection, tactics and ability to inspire.

It's all down to Gary Bollan and his players now

Do they want to keep their credibility by fighting tooth and nail over the two legs to ensure our SPFL survival in one of their most important games in the clubs history

Or do they want to have on their CV and be remembered as the first management/players to relegate Cowdenbeath F.C from the SPFL senior ranks whilst potentially putting the club at a greater risk for their longer term survival.

Time to play for the Jersey and go into these games fired right up with the right mentality. Win every ball, fight for possession, in the oppositions faces and a desire to win

Ask any good psychologist or top level coach/manager and they’d all tell you the best way to get players to produce a top performance is to absolutely lay out a doomsday scenario to the players.

Pretty sure they’ll be able to play with no fear with this ‘motivation’.
