Troon pubs in order (best to worst)

Lonsdale

Whatever Cheeky Charlies is called now

McKay's

Girvans

The Fox

Anchorage

Harbour Bar

This is good, other than Harbour being a bit too low and Lonsdale being a bit too high.

Haven't been in Lonsdale or Girvans for years though.

I know we have played 433/451 so far but wonder if the McGeady signing might see us line up a bit like this.

I think Frankie might have competition from Stanger for the rcb job. I've been really impressed with him so far.

We could maybe put Musonda to right back? The answer was there all along!

Good interview - he speaks well and nicely sums up a lot of the benefits of his role.

Agreed, a very honest and frank interview and with the level he's played at it can surely only help to keep up progress both on and off the pitch and to drive standards which can only ever be a positive.

Hearing all the areas that'll take up his time:

Playing, training, recruitment, board meetings, staff meetings, influencing the direction of the club, assisting the manager and players, shadowing the MD, on the field coaching, mentoring young players

A lot of these jobs by his own admission being things that he's looking to learn and gain experience in.

I think there needs to be a bit of caution that he's not taking on too much too soon. There will clearly have to be an extended period of time for him to settle into the dual role.

I wonder if he's splitting his time 50/50 over both the player / technical manager position?

Might be more of a log book type role to assist with his degree where he'll drop in and out of different areas but never do them all at the one time, at least until he gets injured.

Aiden McGeady has played 185 times for Celtic and 93 times for the Republic of Ireland. Two years ago he was said to be Sunderland's highest paid player on £13k per week. He is said to have a net worth of $12M primarily from playing football.

He now has chosen to join Ayr United as he sees them as a club that is going places and he wants to be a part of that.

Respect.

Left Celtic for Russia citing death threats. Fell out with Celtic. Ended up playing for kids team in Russia. Fell out with someone at Sunderland. Never been a fan of the guy but i wish him well on and off the pitch for us

The then manager made up a cock sand bill story about how he was 'bullying' another player. Said player came out after that manager left and said it never happened, but had to keep his mouth shut to keep his place in the team.

The manager had fallen out with McGeady as he'd pointed out the fella was out his depth. He was right.

Always a risk but if we can keep McGeady fit could be a master stroke.

He will give us a dead ball specialist who will probably chip in good few goals from free kicks.

Also his corners are absolutely deadly too...assists for a potential target man coming in will be vital.

Let's face it this will be his last club of a long really good career ....he will not want to finish on a whimper ...

Also we now have 4 very good ball players in the centre of the park...so hopefully possession game ...been really really impressed with Murphy since he signed ...looks incredibly fit and great in the ball, with a goal threat.

Full backs and a centre forward and we're sorted ....

That would make sense as to why he came to Ayr but also why his head was turned as readily by a better offer.

Again with this pish. From the moment he turned out to be good every single person at the club freely admitted that it'd be a struggle even keeping hold of him until the summer, never mind beyond that. He turned back up on time, went to training and other than a couple of _very_ cryptic Instagram posts did absolutely nothing to suggest he was anything but happy staying where he was, then posted a very gracious message when he left. Absolutely nobody has the right to be remotely chippy.

I'll be interested in how Stanger does against better opposition. He still looked a bit raw to me against Stirling Albion (early doors he had a few moments, but the whole defence did). He was also one of the worst for not looking up and simply refusing to pass to the man in space (usually Watret on the right).

I always hated his stupid face. Garden gnome looking c**t.

He looks like a Limmy character now.

I don't think he's going to do much on the park, but I do like the idea of challenging Bullen (and indeed serving as a very visible notice that Bullen's job is not for life).

I didn't see the Stirling game but his distribution and positive decision making were a couple of the things that stood out for me against Stenhousemuir, moreso in the first half.

Having watched that video I'm leaning far more toward him being a manager-in-waiting. Mentioned Bullen exactly once. It sounds as if he'll be reporting directly to Mathie. I can see him having a direct impact on tactics as well as there's no way the current Aussie Rules approach is going to continue with a millionaire winger on the books.

Absolutely no problem with his historical arseholery. A good many of Ayr's fan favourites were arseholes. Have even stopped caring about the Scotland situation because it's not as if the last twenty years would have gone spectacularly differently for the want of one extra good player.

And who knows, maybe it'll get a few of the full-kit wankers found wandering the smoking ruins of what used to be a very nice high street along for the novelty value. I know a good few people who go to Ayr games primarily because it's cheaper and less hassle than going to Parkhead and I imagine they'll be at games more often this year too.

Wot pish? It's a short career and you only get so many years to make money. If he had made money previously then more chance he would have stayed another year and been more selective about his next club.  At his age he can't afford to turn down extra cash and try to build a better career. Not once i have said that he gave up the ghost in any way. He did well for us and i wish him well.
