Only 7 days to go until the Rovers game , with Kerr saying one of the two strikers would be in, in time for the Betfred Cup , did he mean this game in particular ? If so at least a few days training with the squad would be a good idea if possible . If all those stars align then that surely puts us in imminent territory ?

On a separate note  Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove is approaching full fitness and should be about ready after the internationals .

Pretty sure we can’t. Free agents maybe but not loans.

@Skyline Drifter

This year you can. The Championship has been put in the same category as lower divisions for loans this year and has the extra "month". The loan window closes on October 31.

Now you've said that we'll get to Friday and have signed nobody lol

So Mark Kerr has till Friday to make a few signings, including Michael Paton 🙄 Exciting stuff.

Im fairly certain there is no window on free agents, apart from the end of season - ie you cant sign anyone from March onwards. As long as they haven't played (or maybe had a contract) for another club while the window is shut, its basically stopping someone unemployed getting a job if they are not allowed to sign

You can even sign a free agent after March, you just can't play them in your first team.

Im always suprised when you hear fans of clubs at our level go on about the window closing as its a fairly rare occasion we actually sign someone via a transfer - im not sure if Baird counts (was he released by St Mirren?) but before that im sure you would have to go back to the likes of Hurst and Reynolds for the last time we actually signed someone in a proper transfer

Just listen to big Lachlan on the sportsound podcast. He has assured all Ayr United fans that he will ensure that we are fine this season even without fans. Obviously he would prefer financial support from Government or football associations but that the directors would support us if required. He did state that some teams, especially Championship sides may struggle.

I'm sure we paid a transfer fee for David Lowing.  We've moved on a bit since those days.

Kerr‘s comments in Ayrshire Post slightly concerning. Saying the hunt for the striker is going to go down to the wire. We’ve been close on two or three but have missed out on them and the way he’s talking it sounds like we’re only going to get one

We seemed to have spent to much time on trying to sign Drinan whilst players like O'Hara, Keena, Nelson and McMannus all went past us.

To be perfectly honest, I don't really think we needed as many as 2 strikers. 1 striker and a full back should be enough.

Why do we need a full back? We’ve got Houston, Reading, Chalmers, Miller and Hewitt than can all play at full back.

I think we do need 2 strikers as I’ve given up all hope with Moore.
