He’s 17(?) probably fitter than most of the squad, we’re only playing once a week at the moment and we’re in early September. If he’s the best player in that position he should be playing every week. Suppose there is the risk of burning him out.

Will wait to see how we fair against them this season in the league, but still have an excellent chance at it and should absolutely be going to win it.
diegomarahenry
We were mediocre at best in the first half, Reading got caught for the first and McCallister gave him a hospital pass for the second. Almost a carbon copy of the first Raith game, everything we created was behind Stevenson and round the back of Dick. That and a Byrne hand ball. Raith signing old players of 3 year deals has caught up with them already and it’s only September, 3-4 were blowing out there arse after an hour. I’ve seen fitter part time teams. Henderson was quiet, McCallister was a bomb-scare, Reading had a good second half, Rus won us free kicks, Watret was brilliant again. Hopefully a home draw in the next round.
North Terrace Gazza
It is strange that we have never won this cup when you consider the teams that have won it. However, the league is definitely our priority
Superhursty7
It might only be the Diddy cup but I'd love to win it, ot would be another shot in the arm and sign of progress for the club

Yup , Watret was my MoM today and is money in the bank . A cool £500k will be coming our way sooner rather than later .

Two bits of silverware would be nice in next seasons team photo .

Didn't do Alan Forrest any harm despite coming through in the significantly more agricultural league below. It's extremely telling that opponents looking for a weak spot in Ayr go for the guy who has played 100+ games for the club in all competitions and not the guy who's just finished his Standard Grades. It's extremely telling that opponents looking for a weak spot in Ayr go for the guy who has played 100+ games for the club in all competitions and not the guy who's just finished his Standard Grades. Forrest wasn’t really starting games at the beginning and in the 13-14 season was only brought on for the last twenty minutes or so. It’s actually one of the few things that Roberts did well at Ayr in managing his game time so that he was overused but still played plenty of games. Watret is probably the best youngster I’ve seen come through at Ayr. He’s quick, he’s strong, his delivery is excellent and his overall defending is very good. He ticks just about every box you’d want from a full back and he’s only 17. That is outrageous when you actually think about it. It’s going to take an absolutely mental decision from him or a terrible injury to stop him having a brilliant career and most likely play for Scotland.

Showing my age but Stevie Nicol was, like Watret, an obvious future pay-day for Ayr United. I hope young Dylan has as good a career as Stevie had. I share the feeling that he needs to avoid injury for that to happen and he's perhaps not the build (yet) of Nicol but he has the same potential. It's been said before but the Ayr United Academy deserve great credit for getting this current crop of youngsters knocking on the door of greater things via Ayr United - Hislop, Guthrie, McRoberts are just some names worth looking out for.

Hislop is one that I’d love to have seen today but defending a one goal lead probably wasn’t the best time to see him. Hopefully he’s on the bench next time we’re cruising and he can get a shot.

Whatever he does - he just needs to continue playing games. Even since he came into the team, you can see the development in him.
