Passatta/puree??

Why would you put them together? They are nothing alike?
Pretty sure puree is basically reduced passatta ? I use puree for flavour when cooking onions and garlic and passatta for a sauce. I use it instead of chopped tomatoes for chilli/bolognese now.

If it was passata, it would be labelled passata.  Like this.  There's ketchup, there's sauce and there's passata/puree.  Three different things.

I don’t think it would in this case. They’ve got a target demographic in mind, the type for whom cafetière becomes “French Press” etc. Hadn’t noticed it was Waitrose until now so I’m probably spot on - this range is probably aimed at the oik end of their market.

OK, here we go.  What else is it called?  I'm guessing you call it tomato 'sauce'?  THIS is tomato sauce, stuff you put on pasta or in a casserole.

Oh here we go. The yanks call it ketchup, therefore it's ketchup. Even although it was originally referred to as tomato sauce.

You'll be claiming that jeans are actually called pants next. Ljsl9nQ.png
