The lack of ambition stuff you see gets on my dick.

Dumbarton are taking some flak on facebook this summer for our seemingly awful level of signings, it didn't take long for the usual suspects to trot out that the board "needs to show ambition". When you ask them what "ambition" actually means in their eyes it essentially boils down to "throw money at it and hope we get good". I would agree that anyone trotting "ambition" stuff like that is a moron. Along with those who think that a football stadium "lacks character".

Yep, it's very Rangersy for fans to scream for investment, throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.

Are Dumbarton not rolling in it after raising the price of their season tickets when they shared a division with Sevco?

I don't wish to be confrontational here, but this is another line trotted out regularly by morons. Dumbarton were a part time side (with a capacity of 2,000) in a wholly full-time division, yet people expect that we just pocketed the cash and carried on with a League 1 part time budget.  We plugged every penny back into the team to try and give ourselves the best chance of staying up, and it worked for 6 seasons. Usually the same people who say "where's the ambition?!" are the same people saying "where's all the money gone?!" when we came down. Morons.

I'll be honest, I only heard rumblings from a Dumbarton fan, I've no idea what happens in the lower leagues.

Apply the logic to your own team - do Kilmarnock have big wads of cash stashed away from all the visits of both the Old Firm, or do you plough that money into your first team squad/youth development to give you a better chance of competing?

Don't know. Never been interested enough in the inner workings to look at finance sheets. But then again, Kilmarnock didn't raise their season ticket prices when Sevco joined their league.

We had Hearts, Hibs and Rangers in the league that year, all of which meant we had to close a road and put more police at the ground, hence a rise in price. Didn't seem to put many off, we sold the maximum number of season tickets that it was possible for us to sell that season. Rising prices doesn't mean that you're always pocketing the profits.
