There is a decent driver in there....maybe not top F1 level but seriously good endurance racer in there.  Wouldn't be surprised if he moves onto the WEC in a few years time and bags a LeMans podium/win.

It was a good race from Stroll today. Exactly what he should be doing - nobody expects him to compete with Alonso, but as long as he gets somewhere near, and picks up solid points when the car is good, then that's enough.

Wolff was seething in his interview on Sky after the race. I think he owns a decent chunk of the team, so he won't be sacked, but you have to wonder how long he'll hang around for if they build another useless car next season. He can then enjoy his new stress free executive job at Man Utd instead.

Not that it's a race anyone outside of Liberty or Danny Ricc is looking forward to, but here are the broadcast times for Las Vegas.

Race starts 0600 our time on the Sunday morning 2200 Vegas time sat night ..unless there's a West Coast late basketball/ice hockey game liberty going all out for the yank TV sports market

Yet more tinkering with Sprint weekends for 2024.

Wish they'd just f**k the whole thing off and go back to the sanity of 16 races per season to be honest. Totally killing my interest with over-saturation.

Absolutely this . Sprint races are for club racing not F1. Far far too many races on now , getting to the stage for the first time in 30+ years that I generally am not excited for most race weekends as they've lost the feeling of being something a bit special.  When the system is set up for runaway champions now it's a bit dull ploughing through races when the championship was clearly decided 10 races from the end .

If they are going to carry on with the sprint it should be

Friday: FP1, Qualifying

Saturday: FP2, reverse grid sprint

Sunday: Race

Watching battles like Alonso v Perez while they also try and navigate a rapidly falling back Sargent would be tremendous.

would also give the smaller teams a decent chance at picking up a few extra points across the year

The fact that viewers are way up will be why they keep sprint racing. Something needs to change about them though.

I think part of the dullness at the moment it Verstappen has no competition. If we were seeing a tight battle (like Verstappen v Hamilton) these races would be decent and I'd bother to get up and watch.

The gap between GP's used to be purgatory, but it built a real sense of anticipation and excitement for the next one. The interim two weeks would have me pouring over Motorsport, Autosport, sucking up any info and insight I could, lapping up the discussion on which team and cars the particulars of the next circuit should suit, what developments were currently undergoing testing, the latest on the tyre wars etc. Every single race was huge, it really meant something, and the smaller points rewards made wins and podiums far more meaningful. Max scoring about 902734982 points for a win, while George Russell still gets a hatful for pootling around in 8th, and this is repeated 20+ times a season is bleh... Who gives a f**k if Red Bull have 756 constructors points? Is that somehow "better" than McLaren winning a Championship with 80 or so 25 years ago?

It's not the advent of the internet that has killed this, because I barely pay any attention at all to F1 internet media. It's the lack of anything changing between races, the fact there's a race more or less every other weekend for 9 months of the year, and the fact that if you really want to, you can sit through every minute of Practice 1, 2, and 3, Quali, and the race itself.

They've just diluted the quality of the spectacle with 1. how much of it is available, 2. the fact it's horrendously samey from one race to the next, 3. the fact next to f**k all of note happens now in terms of significant change between races, and 4. there isn't all that much changes from the start of a weekend to the end, because they spend so much time in parc ferme that there really isn't as much scope for correcting mistakes and turning a shit quali into a good race etc.

I'm genuinely at the point now where an F1 race is a case of "I'm at a loose end, there's nothing else on, might watch it, might not", whereas every single race was an unmissable event not so long back. Familiarity and contempt.

At least the track seems an upgrade on their last attempt at a Vegas race.

Was a building site for the main pit building by the Wynn casino when i was there in March.
Feel sorry for anyone who went to holiday there the past month though.
It's an absolute riot by what I've seen
