Mr Heliums
Kind of sums up the British really: 30,000 deaths doesn't seem to register, but one specky bald twat thinking he's better than us and the entire UK is raging.

Or perhaps because there have been almost 40,000 official deaths, the British are raging at a specky twat in authority flouting the rules and risking even more deaths.

Tbf, Douglas's parents would have been amazed to see him get in the P&J far less the front page of the Guardian. Well played.
cyderspaceman
Apparently, Cummings has claimed to have predicted Covid in an old blog but it has been discovered that the blog was altered retrospectively, on the evening he returned fron Durham. Not suspicious at all. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52808059

paul-r-cfc
Labour seem content to just let the Tories drown themselves over this. Apparently one of their MPs was asked where their representative was this morning. They said it was Michael Gove.Shame the pills are only going that way five months into a mammoth Tory majority.

There’s a political strategy that says when your opponent is making a mistake never to interrupt them. If I were Labour I would allow the story to percolate naturally (which each Cabinet member is doing every time they try and explain/justify it) but when it begins to drop off the news agenda then Is the time to wade in with demands of resignations. If the story is still front page news this weekend it will be interesting to see if Johnson blinks.
Dunfermline Don
Has there been any Scottish polls of late? No, but it would be interesting to see one. This also explains why some Scots Tories are coming out against Cummings as unlike Westminster they have an election to fight here next year and not the luxury of 4 1/2 years and an 80 seat majority like Johnson.

There is also an obvious comparison with Catherine Calderwood who had some expertise in her field, drove a much shorter distance and was not infected but resigned anyway. It was interesting that when she was mentioned, Boris simply referred to her as "that woman" and hadn't considered any similarity.

Johnson would refer to her as ‘that woman’ because he would not be able to recall her name. That is not a flippant remark, it is a serious point. Johnson has no head for detail, none whatsoever. Neither does he accept or recognise this sufficiently to prepare himself for obvious questions. This trait/failing makes him unsuitable to be PM at any time, let alone at a time of national crisis. Maybe the reason he is defending Cummings so vigorously is because he knows how much more easily he will be exposed without that foil.
