The Big Relegation Thread

TBF I think we're safe now, Hearts and Hamilton surely won't gain 9/10 before the split, based on current form!!!, so a mid-30s finish should see teams safe. We potentially only need around 4 points from our remaining 12 games, and are top of the "bottom half table".

I told you weeks ago that St. Johnstone are now fine. 3 well placed wins will do that.

We have home to Hearts, St. Johnstone and away to Killie in our next 3 games. If we could stick a similar run together of 7 or so points in those games we'll also be edging towards safe.

It's possible a team in bottom 4 might catch you guys if you're on a bad run, it's inconceivable that 3 or 4 of the bottom 4 will all go on similar runs though.

It's certainly possible, we can only really breathe easy if we've still got a double points cushion when the games are in single figures.

The team is light years ahead of the start of the season but still plenty of mistakes in there. We have a keeper that makes Jack Hamilton look composed so always likely to ship daft goal, for all that the defence is significantly stronger. Still plenty of attacking potential from up front and midfield.

Really looking forward to the game in Paisley, it's a chance to eradicate the memory of a performance that was the absolute low-point of our season.

This is the current "bottom half table"...

... think theres enough to suggest that as long as we're not in the bottom two come the split, we'll pick up enough points against fellow bottom half sides to survive.

It doesnt look great. They could get late results against bottom half sides who's seasons are already over, if the fixtures fall in a kind way, but theres not a lot to support a lot of their fans belief theyll start cruising to points after the split.

That's virtually the form table from Stendels entire time at Hearts aswell.

Killie to be 6th at the split for me, Hibs are coming to the bottom half for the bants.

An old Hibby uni mate said this to me yesterday, wants to wave them bye bye as they relegate them. Harsh but I'd take it if we sneaked into the top six.

This is something that has worked out very well for them in the past, of course.

Not so much a relegation battle result, but...

I'm officially ruling Hibernian out the battle from now on. Decided that 35 will be the point where I'll start removing teams. So Kilmarnock/St Johnstone just need 3/4 points to remove themselves from the thread.

Next fixtures...

St Johnstone and Kilmarnock unlikely to free themselves from the thread by next week. Biggest game is obviously the first, St Mirrens impressive home form meets Hearts poor away form. Feels like every week you're saying a Hearts win would blow things open, but theres less and less teams to get involved every week.

A draw would probably be best on Friday, but we could also get out of the bottom two if Hearts win and we beat Motherwell (which we won't). Then again, a nice gap could open up if Hearts lose and we beat Motherwell (which we won't), however that could also see St Mirren go five ahead of us if we lose to Motherwell (which we will) and the gap would be insurmountable if they also win their game in hand.

Reading between the lines here, I'm guessing you don't fancy your chances of taking anything off Motherwell?
