Molotov
St Mirren also played Celtic at Ibrox back in 1979. http://www.stmirrenprogrammes.co.uk/StMirren/STM_Match_Details.php?Season=1978&GameID=197905110 “This match was played at Ibrox Park as Love Street was in the process of reconstruction. Ibrox itself was in a state of upheaval as the Copland Road stand was almost complete and that summer the Broomloan stand would begin construction. For this reason this was to be the last time that Celtic supporters would stand in their traditional 'Celtic end' on the old open Ibrox terracing before it was destroyed. This game was a postponed fixture from December and is another reason for the Ibrox venue. Despite this being a home match for Saints Celtic had around 20,000 fans in the ground who were hoping that Celtic could continue their march towards the title. Celtic fans packed the old terracing and the Centenary stand with Saints fans in the main stand and enclosure areas.”

Yup when Queen's Park and Thistle shared it tore up, I'd say worse than when the rugby was there (which was less frequent). I guess that's why they are at Stenny this year given Hamilton, Broadwood and Airdrie are in use by others. Perhaps put up a temporary stand behind the north goal or ask SFA nicely for use of the main ground again? 18 minutes ago, Durnford said: Didn't St Mirren do some ground sharing a couple of seasons back? We moved halfway through the season and had Celtic use it during the Commonwealth games (hence that well used photo!)

Bobby_F
League incredibly tight. Almost every year most teams at the bottomsget a decent run, and the difference between draws/wins can make such a massive difference with such a tight league. After the start of the season Saints have had, you'd think going 6 games undefeated at this stage of the season would see us comfortable. But with 5 of those being draws that's 10 points dropped. I admit it's unlikely that all the teams below us could overtake us, but we're unlikely to take anything from our next two games (at Tynecastle and Celtic Park) so much as I'l like to be able to just scroll past this thread whenever Is see it, not quite yet!

During the (highly satisfactory) Falkirk debacle that allowed 'Well to dodge relegation, one of the reasons that their proposed groundshare was refused was that with one team in the SPL and the other in the SFL, there was no guarantee that fixtures could be worked out satisfactorily/exclusively (ie - what if the SFL and SPL "computers" put the landlord and the tenant on a home game at the same time). With the SPFL, that would no longer be a valid concern. Celtic at Hampden was a different time and no rules would have mattered if the options were Hampden or a groundshare at ibrox

Although Inverness playing 100+ miles away for half a season was also wild. Can't imagine the Pittodrie pitch would have faired well.

Dropping 5 points in their last 4 games didn't help. either. United lost to the old Rangers at Tannadice and Celtic at Parkhead in two of these matches, the game in Glasgow being the more annoying in that a 'contentious' penalty late on, among other things, gave Celtic the two points. There was a four point difference at the end of the season, but I don't think many (any) United fan thought the title was on after the Tannadice loss to Rangers. It had been a bruising encounter to say the least, yet I don't think the referee booked a single player.
