I am having a bit of a hard time politicising this tbh.

Just pop over to the BBC Scotland  HYS and you'll find plenty of utter skunks who have no such problem. You'll re-politicise in no time.

I know. It's just that it's a highly contagious, often symptonless virus which bears many similarities to something we would all just take on the chin, that has came out of nowhere threatening to reach pandemic levels. I tend to lean towards something's not really being anyones fault.*

*Except in such cases where the cause can be traced back to some redneck farmer pumping the livestock

Football has banned handshakes due to corona viruses. It will be interesting to see if rugby does the same, but keep scrums!

Thousands of fans sitting besides each other, brushing past each other, shouting and singing during games must be ok.

This is one of those circumstances where it is much better to over react early than have to catch up.

Just about every health organisation of note is flagging this up as a very serious issue. Its worth pointing out the worlds most populous nation had to place huge curbs on its gdp to stem the spread of this disease because they did not catch it early enough. Anyone showing figures about previous years flus and trying to claim they were worse is comparing apples with bulldozers. We do not bring major sports events to a halt and stop flights from countries, check arrivals at entry points to try to slow down flu. We are orders of magnitude more serious about making sure those numbers do not look similar.

When it first emerged in Wahun it appeared to have a 2.9% mortality rate for those infected. Perhaps China misreported infection rates, perhaps they misdiagnosed carriers, perhaps the disease has mutated. It may take a while to work out what really happened back in December.

Infections can spread exponentially in their early phases. But that means if you can slow it in the early phases you can have a major impact on the number of total infections. The world is not going to end if we go a bit crazy and use too much hand sanitizer. Slowing the initial rates of infection mean we can likely focus on each case and trace potential carriers. It may allow us to remain ahead of the curve.

I am going to assume any criticism of the reaction not citing very relevant health professionals (especially those pulling stats from their arses) are just attention seekers.

If you support the SNP blame Tory cuts.

If you support the Tories, blame SNP mishandling of Scottish health.

If you support Labour, blame the neoliberalisation of the UKs health system.

If you support the Lib Dems, blame the two party system for failing to build a long term consensus on the best course for the NHS.

If you support UKIP, blame the years of red tape from Brussels.

If you are a Marxist blame late capitalisms failure to prioritise the workers over the profits for the bosses.

If you are a capitalist, blame the failure of the socialised health care system to have a reactive and responsive market economy in the UKs health care.

If you are a Daily Mail reader blame the over taxing of our health system immigrants.

If you read the Guardian blame the Climate Emergency.

If you read the Daily Express, deffo all Maddie McCanns fault.

Aye Dorlomin, Health professional organisations like WHO.

Insert *Who's on first, no he's on second gif

WHO spend more on travel for its employees than aid for AIDS and TB and Malaria combined....

Bunch of wanks.
