Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Seems they are trying to ramp up vaccination efforts. Bringing forward the second vaccination by a month and all 18 to 29 year olds should have their first appointment confirmed by next Sunday.

Fucking journos man. The First Minister standing there saying we’re holding restrictions as they are for another three weeks and they just want to ask about some guys heading to the football with a mask under their chin.

Friday 11th June: 132 (13) in hospital

Friday 18th June: 128 (12) - bit of ups and downs but basically no change this week

Sturgeon and Leitch both just said the same thing.  Any decent journalist would be pointing this out and questioning restrictions but all they want to talk about is the football.

Journos really getting stuck into football fans.  Fuds.

Desperate to tease some kind of condemnation from the FM so they write a critical article with a quote from her.

Tbh if the hospital figures stay as they are, there’s no justification for not just binning the levels pish on July 19th and getting everything open.

That way there’s also plenty of time until schools and unis go back and people will  still be socialising outdoors more.

Every year we get "fresher's flu" on campus. Guaranteed, 3 weeks after semester starts staff and students go down with a cold or flu, like clockwork every year. It is no big deal really.  I'm used to it. This year though, when we reopen, add covid to the mix and there will be major bed shitting in mid-October. Cases will rise, no question - but with what effect? Looking at this "delta wave" hospitalisations etc. will probably stay flat.

I should add we are planning on-campus teaching in the autumn, with limited class sizes (maximum of 50 where I am). We also planned that last year and it got binned by mid-October.

I certainly hope so but the figures would suggest we're slowing down on the vaccinations  and a few of the mass vaccination centres are closing/ have closed - seems strange if they want as many folk done as quickly as possible!
