I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I honestly think we will (like some other countries have done) require vaccination / negative test proof for all indoor hospitality and events irrespective of size.

Some of these people were subsequently fined £10k for their troubles. I get that it's harder to investigate stuff that happened a year ago, but the rules are supposed to apply to everyone. There is evidence it happened and no-one is saying charge people immediately. I can buy 'not enough evidence' insofar as prosecuting at the moment, but there is definitely reasonable suspicion it happened. It absolutely should be investigated. Two wrongs don't make a right and police resources should not be wasted on finding out if some daft restriction was flouted a year ago. If people want to hold those in charge responsible, they can just choose not to vote for them yet again and to file their next stern behaviour change lectures in the bin where they belong.

The only measure she can really implement without furlough is to extend passports- I’d be very surprised if this doesn’t happen over the next few weeks. Although I wouldn’t put it past her to try and do something else with hospitality like reducing hours or closing nightclubs. This isn't about breaking restrictions. It's about those who set the restrictions breaking the restrictions. If other people were fined and prosecuted then surely the bunch of charlatans should be prosecuted under the same rules they set.An election in 2 1/2 years time isn't a deterrent for these hypocritical shitebags. If anything if they aren't prosecuted it will just confirm that they can get away with anything.
Detournement
This is a new trend in America. So instead of an unvaccinated person's insurance company paying the hospital bill the patient gets it and ends up bankrupt. But it doesn't just punish the patient as the hospital also doesn't get paid which is obviously a genius idea during a pandemic.

Starmer today, and Lammy this morning, completely distanced themselves from calls for anything beyond owning up and apologising. Is it cynical to suggest they know they've broken similar rules and don't want to torch their own careers?

There are a lot of people that really need to take a step back and look again at their demands.

Thereisalight..
We're really never getting out of this are we? 22 months in and despite the vast majority being double/triple dosed restrictions and vaccine mandates still rear their ugly head. The worst thing people did was accept "3 weeks to flatten the curve" and swallowed the lie that vaccines were the way out of this. All for something with the average age of death being 80+. Mindblowing and the worst part of it all is some people still believe the lies politicians tell them and lap up the threat of more restrictions. I hated society before but even more so now with all the division and wanting family members to take LFT tests before Christmas dinner. Heads have gone

Thereisalight..
The Tory Christmas party of 2020 should tell everyone all they need to know. Politicians preaching on about "staying safe" yet they were partying. Add in before that Catherine Calderwood going to a holiday home, Margaret Ferrier travelling from London to Scotland whilst positive, that's not even mentioning Hancock and Cummings. We have so many wet wipe politicians in the UK, do you really think these spineless simps would do anything to put their life at risk? They know covid is a minimal risk to those fit and healthy and they had a party in a time pre vaccines. People seriously need to wake up

That's not a crime though, so the thing that would be getting investigating using police time and resources is in fact 'breaking restrictions' and breaking restrictions alone. Quote If other people were fined and prosecuted then surely the bunch of charlatans should be prosecuted under the same rules they set. No, because it would be a waste of time and resources that achieves no actual purpose than stoke some bizarre sense of self-righteousness. We should be reversing and scratching all the ridiculous punishments handed out at the height of public health hysteria. Not wasting yet more fucking time policing irrelevant social interactions. Quote An election in 2 1/2 years time isn't a deterrent for these hypocritical shitebags. If anything if they aren't prosecuted it will just confirm that they can get away with anything. 'We can't trust the electorate to care about this thing' is still not a good argument to prosecute a long-irrelevant breach of long-irrelevant rules. If people care so much about it, they can democratically remove them from high office (and Tories absolutely do care about losing political power, if literally nothing else). The degree of shock and outrage that a Cabinet containing the biggest roasters in the entire country were somehow not All In It Together with the plebs suggests that the Wallet Inspectorate have missed a trick with the UK public.
