It's not been five hours since the Prime Minister addressed the country and P&B is going into meltdown.

Div will need to bring back the Wasteland at this rate, especially if the football gets cancelled.

Pretty rude of the coronavirus to not wait until the close season tbh.

If it could have waited until I saw The Twilight Sad next month and then until the NHL playoffs were done that would have been just peachy. We all need to make sacrifices.

They said that though the rate has been 1% that there is nothing to support this will be the percentage going forward.

The Gov have admitted that there could already be something like 10,000 people infected in the UK. There's likely to be a considerable percentage of the population that's going to get it, you can argue about the numbers and some being worst case scenarios, but it seems its already too late to prevent the spread of it here (compared to some other countries where they have far less cases but have already shut schools, closed public buildings, staggered work times etc).

Now it's more about trying to stop or delay the spread to slow it down, flatten out the numbers over a prolonged period to try and stop the healthcare system from breaking under the sheer numbers. Social distancing & isolation is needed and we should have been told to do this and prepare for it before now.

In Italy they have a better healthcare system but doctors there are having to take decisions about who to treat and who not to. Yeah ok it's only the elderly that are really vulnerable, but in Italy they are talking about younger people needing hospital treatment and being on ventilators. And is a 63-year-old with diabetes just an acceptable loss as one of those "elderly with underlying health issues".

The Italians may have been caught out initially, but although we know more about the virus and how it spreads before symptoms show, how much action are we taking to stop the same thing happening here as is currently happening in Italy. And if the death toll in Italy is 6% or more, why do we think it's going to be 1% or less here?

As Dr John Campbell in the above video says:
"People that would have survived with medical care are going to die without it. Its as simple as that."

TLDR: What a depressing day its been. Just think how bad it'll be in two or three weeks when we don't even have Liverpool & Rangers getting hammered in Europe to laugh at.

I know it's Boris but statements like, 'It is going to spread further and I must level with you, I must level with the British public, many more families are going to lose loved ones before their time.' doesn't suggest to me that it's just gonna be old people and people with underlying health issues.

Figures seem to show that not one single person of the 135k cases has died without having underlying health issues. Not one.

WHO reckon your chances of dying from it, under the age of 50, is 0.5%.

Dying from it is bad, but surviving from it with fucked lungs for the rest of your life might not be great either.

I still want to know why the 34 year old original whistleblower doctor died from it.
