You can make it illegal for people to travel from monifieth to brought ferry. That's just daft.

That would be and affront to humanity.  There’s not an M&S in Monifieth.

Extremely deflating news. West Dunbartonshire figures dropping and people largely following rules just to be pumped into tier 4. There will be others worse than me, but I'm at a pretty low point mentally with things that have gone on the last few weeks and the thought of being sat in my house for the next 3 weeks is excruciating. I don't even want to think how I'll feel if tier 4 gets extended further. All to save a Christian holiday that I could not give a shiny shite about.

I wouldn't be surprised to see rises in WD now tbh. Why obey the rules if we're just getting shafted into whatever tier Glasgow is in anyway?

So why are they taking drastic action now different from when the first wave hit due to rapidly increasing infections, hospitalisations and deaths?

Didn't their experts claim there wouldn't be a second wave?

I see also two other role model countries Japan and South Korea are back in the shit as well.

I don't know. I would guess it's the difference between socialising in Sweden in the summer and the winter. I don't think they claimed there wouldn't be a second wave, the fact that the first wave ended simultaneously with the rest of Europe (also in Belarus) is evidence that restrictions aren't primarily driving the trends.

Every country is back in the shit. It's seasonal now like flu.

It's the same in Lanarkshire. Tier 3 was clearly working.

Meanwhile in the Highlands -

Ironworks in Inverness to host first live show since before Covid-19 coronavirus lockdown in March; fan favourites Torridon are to play the Highland music venue

It's good to see also that 300 football fans will be allowed into the Caley Stadium to support Inverness CT when they play Raith Rovers. We've seen this happen up in Dingwall. Slowly the Highlands are opening up again.

It will be good to get the Highland League back sometime soon.

5 weeks till christmas, folk are just going to go full ignore mode regardless aren't they?

The same people who were ignoring household meetings in Tier 3 will do so in Tier 4. That's a small minority of people. If you start to lose the majority then the game's a bogey.

...because we are heading into winter and the time of year when respiratory infections are most problematic rather than the summer months when people are out and about in the sun in a way that boosts immune systems would be the obvious answer. The uncomfortable truth that they still have a significantly lower cumulative mortality rate and a significantly smaller second wave than the UK still calls into serious question whether the UK's more Draconian nanny state approach was necessary.

Crazy that Ballantrae is tier 4 and Irvine is tier 3. Ballantrae about a 15 min drive from tier 2 as well

You couldn't have made a worse comparison. I can walk to North Ayrshire from my front door in about 8 mins. Unfortunately the line must be drawn somewhere. Troon to Irvine is 4m by train. A travel ban will stop no one. People here traditionally will make no recognition of current LA boundaries. If someone in Troon or Barassie needs something they cant get in Troon they go to Irvine, always have, always will do. People will not go double the distance to Ayr just to avoid breaching a non enforceable travel ban. It's human nature to travel to the nearest big town.
